All my teachers have said that it reinforces what we have learned.

The work is also a repetive exercise that just incase you when you do the work over you have a better chance to remember the problem.

I had one 5th grade teacher that said that she gives out homeword by the pound. normally with my books and papers by book bag weighted 42 pounds every night except thurdays the day before the weeks quizes the weight was 45 pounds, I still laugh that i weighted my bookbag nightly and reported it back to the teacher.

I have had to outline nightly social studies, worksheets, projects, essays and experiments. I am glad that I had teacher who were willing to grade and tell me what i did wrong. I learned so much from by homework.

at my school we have something in the mornings and the afternoons called homework help.. I dont know if these children have on of these but you can mention it to the school board. OR you could talk to a teacher that your child has a problem in if the child could stay 30min-1hour to help on the homework that she\he has. And there is STUDY HALL in high school

Why do you want to reduce homework? Homework is how they learn, they have to practice the skills they are taught in school over and over so it sinks in. Homework is not a bad thing, if you have your child's best interests in mind!

Stay with one subject until it is complete. That is one of the many benefits to home-schooling. Flexible schedule to work with each child individually. Think outside the box. Do what is best for your family.
