This is my daughters and my 1st year homeschooling. We live in NC and I have checked out all of the NC requirements for end of year testing, but am still unsure on how to purchase and give the nationally standardized tests. Where can I purchase this test? How do I go about scoring them? When do I test? I have searched all over the ncdnpe.org website, but it leaves just as many questions as it does answers. Can anyone help me with these procedures? Thanks to all in advance. PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS ANSWERS. IF YOU DON"T HAVE A USEFUL ANSWER PLEASE DON"T RESPOND!!!

I know homeschoolers tend to have higher achievement test scores, but does homeschooling have an impact on later life income? What research data supports your answer? If there is a difference, is there an explanation of why this happens?

My ex lives in Canada and wants to be able to take our kids for a month or more at a time. My parents say only teachers should teach children and are very negative about the whole idea. I also want to homeschool to instill values, morals and spiritual beliefs in my children they wont necessarily learn at a public school.

How will I be able to convine my parents of letting me start unschooling? At ypical conversation would be me asking to quit school, and my dad saying I'll be a loser if I quit. Also, if I do quit, will I be able to learn by myself without a parent or somebody to guide? Yes, I know it's childlead, but the parents play into it somehow. I've also been wondering about college options if I do. If I'll be able to attend/get a degree, how? Thanks for all the help. I may post more questions later.

Why do parents pull a child out of school when the child is doing well, has friend, and most of all is happy!! I just don't get it, why do that to a child when they are perfectly happy and don't want to leave school?

Now I'm probably just begging to get flamed and bashed by posting this, but here goes. The following is actually an answer I'd given before, but I just decided to put part of it here.

Right now I'm thirteen and I have been homeschooled all my life and I've had plenty of friends (over a hundred!) and yes, there are plenty of homeschoolers out there that may be lacking social activity and stay at home all day studying but I'm definitely not one of those. And btw, that whole thing about homeschoolers being unprepared for the "real world"? Total BS. We have better debating skills, and have the ability to figure out what to do, when we are in a situation where we know not what to do. ;] And for those who think that we're "more likely to become pregnant in the real world", do you honestly think we're THAT dim-witted and uninformed as to let ourselves be so vulnerable? I can't believe it.(Going to add more in the additional information section in a moment.)

the reason I ask this is cause I have posted 2 q's thus far on the issue, and the only anserws i got either relate to education, or mainly socailization. So I would like to know of those anserws who can back it up with unbiased legitimate studies?because as a homeschooling mom i have read study after study.Especailly before I decided to homeschool to make sure it was a good choice, and even the us dept of ed has studies on this topic where they even found homeschooled children to be well adjusted socailly , as adapted as their peers and sat scores to be higher than most public schooled children. So if there is negative studies out there that can support claims that homeschooling is mentally damaging to kids and the anserws ive received are based on fact rather than perception, Id like to see it.

My daughter is 9mths. My goal is to teach her both english and spanish. I know she will have to speak spanish by the time she grows up. Any good books, tapes, movies, etc to help me with this? I can not speak spanish myself but willing to learn along with her. Right now we watch Dora, Handy Manny, etc and have a Baby Einstien DVD she watches in both languages.

the reason i ask this is because as i explained in other q's my son is 3 1/2 he has mild cp that doesnt effect his arms or hands, and he is normal intelligence.but the school here still wants to put him in special ed, even though his ot and pt object to it.the school claims he wont be picked at and i can get a tutor for things he wont learn in spec ed, but that he mainly needs to learn self help skills and thats what spec ed is for.he has a pt and a ot to learn him self help skills, as his ot says he needs a normal education.

Why did they ban religion form public schools?...i think its very weird because in other coutnries its perfectly fine to pratice your religion in schools....i think it would be a good idea to introduce religious education back in schools....kids would be more discliplined.....
