Have you looked into ARVS? It is a public charter school in Arkansas that you use at home. It uses the k12 curriculum and you can find the ARVS website on www.k12.com. Just click on options for your state and you should find the link there. They may not have any openings, but if they do it will be totally free and they will ship you a computer to use as well.

Otherwise check out local homeschool groups - search yahoo groups for northwest arkansas home school groups and you will find several. There are many low or no cost resources for homeschooling but it takes a little research to find what will work for your child.

The paperwork is very easy, just fill out the letter of intent and waiver, then take it to your superintendent's office. You'll find these forms at this site: http://arkansased.org/schools/schools_home.html

Half your state can't possibly homeschool - it's something like 1-3% nationwide. Homeschooling is NOT easy. You need to do some reseach into which homeschooling program is right for you, and if any support groups exist in your area, they should be able to point you the right way.

I would suggest joining a homeschooling group in your area and finding out what they use.

Go to Yahoo Groups and do a search for "arkansas homeschool". You'll get a ton of hits. Join a few groups there. You'll get far better answers there than you will here.

Good luck!
