I am not understanding your question entirely
Are you asking about the relationship between the Pope and the Roman Emperor during the Byzantine era?
try reading reading the wiki article as a over view, look for the links that tell you what you are really looking for

I know info on the byzantine only,

As the Roman Empire slowly collapsed from wave after wave of barbarian invasions, another empire arose in the East that tried to take its place. Originally part of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire quickly became the “new Rome” after Rome itself had been conquered.

The Emperor Constantine, who reigned from A.D. 306 to 337, located his capital city on the site of an old Greek city named Byzantium. The new Byzantine Empire, named after the old Greek city, was born.

Constantine renamed the city Constantinople (Greek for "the city of Constantine") and continued to rule as a Roman emperor. Later emperors would push the boundaries of this empire even further.

527 an extraordinary man became emperor. Justinian worked throughout his reign to expand and reform the empire. He recaptured much of the western empire from barbarian forces that had pushed into Italy from the north. His accomplishment did not last long, however. Conflicts with powers outside the empire whittled down its size.

The Byzantine Empire soon controlled only the eastern portions of the old Roman Empire. Meanwhile, the new empire thrived, thanks to its location. Its capital, Constantinople, was at the crossroads of East and West, North and South. Thanks in particular to its control of the valuable Chinese silk trade, the Byzantine Empire grew wealthy even as the western Roman Empire crumbled.

Start with your text book and it's website, then try Wikipedia, but most teacher won't take it as a source, or some person off the internet as a source, so use the sources listed on the page somewhere.
