Some ideas:

Get to the library at least once a week to do your work there instead of at home (if you can).

Put on music or even the television on in another room--so you don't watch it while you are working.

Set up a schedule so you don't necessarily have to be home all day. What I mean is set it up so that you are out some mornings and do your work in the afternoon or the other way around. It really sounds like you are needing more interaction so perhaps see about volunteering or working a few times a week or check out extra-curricular activities you could participate in. We get out usually at least 3 times a week. We do go insane if we stay home every day!

Dogs will pick up their energy if you do things with them. Take a break during the morning and go for a walk with them or just try to play with them or something.

Join a homeschool group, find a homeschooler with whom you can study together.
Join the library, go to reading days and find a literature discussion group.(some are online, like the Oprah book club)
Join a scientific association, and go to their meeting, like an Astronomy club, or geology club. Ask the librarian to find clubs and groups for you!!!!
There is nothing wrong with having some quiet music in the background while you study. SIgn up with the yahoo broadcast radio or search for web radio stations, then, each day, listen to a different style music, classical, jazz, cuban, french balad, chinese...listening to all these, you may find some new favorites.
Go out, take the dogs for walks, train the dogs new tricks outside whenever you are spacing out...and you see the dogs getting plump and lazy...LOL
Volunteer where you would feel good, hospital, animal shelter, hospice, recycling center...or whatever.
Start jogging (not in the winter, but in the spring) do this regularly, it is good for you and clears the mind...

Well I hope this helps, and gets you some ideas...

Glurpy, as always, is spot on.

If you think homeschooling is all about sitting at a desk and doing school work, you are missing out on SO much of what you can do with the flexibility of learning outside of school.

Make a list of your goals. Decide what it is that you want to do with your life. And then decide what you can do NOW to start working towards those goals. And, do your best to put "study" at the very, very, VERY end of your list.

What is it that you enjoy? What makes you feel successful? Brainstorm some ideas of how you can make your life more fulfilling. A job? Volunteering? Working with your neighbors? Starting your own business? Solving problems? Writing for magazines? Contemplating the universe? Saving our planet's resources? Helping animals?

Homeschooling is at its best when it teaches you how to *make yourself happy*. Happiness is a choice. Being by yourself a lot, you have the choice to be annoyed by it and wish you were somewhere else, or to make it work for you.

I would say the same thing to someone who is in a school situation they don't like, about choosing happiness. And in the process of figuring out how to make your life more fulfilled, you're learning how to be an adult.

Oh, and lastly, get your parents involved (or another important adult who can help you). Don't complain to them (well, you can a little, but don't go overboard). Instead, present them with your goals and ask them help you meet your goals. People don't like to help people who complain, but they LOVE to help people who take initiative and who are willing to do the work necessary to get the job done.

School might be a better fit for you, but in the meantime, make the absolute MOST of the days you have homeschooling. Don't let these days waste away sitting at home being annoyed. Make your life good. Nobody else can (even school can't make your life good).

Good luck to you!

You should look into getting a part-time job. I always liked work way better than school. You still get to be around people your own age but you get paid for it. Then you would have money to buy things you want. I don't think it's really that you WANT to go back to school, but you just need something else to do. When I was homeschooling it sucked at first because I hated just sitting here alone, but once I got a job and was around people all day I enjoyed my alone time doing homework. It balanced everything out.

I do correspondence courses too and let me tell you, I easily get distracted. I'm married so I also have other house responsibilities as well (cooking for my family, taking care of my home, etc.) What I do that helps me is, I try to go to the library at least once a week. I mean, it's still quiet but at least I have some people around me. You might want to consider putting on some music or so.

How many hours do you do? I only do 3 or 4.. When mums here I just sit down and do it with her for 3 hrs and I can do what ever I want to after that. When shes not here, I just go in my room and put on my music and do it.. maybe watch some tv? Im getting a job soon, maybe this afternoon so if you get a job you can work on weekdays and put ur homework around it.. it would get you out more with people.. i think it would be good.. good luck!

wow, i used to be just like you. i'm still homeschooled but i go to what they call a "homeschool co-op" and you go to "school" once a week where other people(usually other homeschooling moms) teach you. it's like a middle ground between full school and regular homeschooling. the school that i go to has about 200 kids going(plenty of highschoolers) and so it's not so small. and has the illusion of regular school

Stop whining.
I was home schooled for all grades except 2ND grade.
I loved it!
Be grateful your parents care enough about you that they would want to personally teach you!

Talk to them at your local school and ask if you can come back after the holidays. I don't think they can refuse you.
