I guess I am just having the holiday blues this year. Just this last year my parents divorced, I moved in with my mom and tried homeschooling. Then I went back to public school even though my homeschooling courses were not complete. Now I am trying to finsih my senior year of highschool and finish a prescalculus class. Right now I am half way done with it, but I am so confused by it I am having a really tough time. Everytime I try working on it I get so stressed out to the point of tears. I just wish it was finished. I need the credit to graduate. What should I do. I live in a very small town where no one could help me, all I have is the computer. Teachers at school will not help because they do not believe in homeschooling. What can I do. Please help.

I don't want to pay for this. I need to download a free template for a high school student that I am homeschooling where I can put in his name and the name of our home school.

Is it still a good idea to keep a child home schooled even if they completely hate it and want to go to public or private school?

This was a joking way to ask a serious question....I don't know why someone had it deleted.
Now, if you don't have a sense of humor, get one, you'll need it for homeschooling. My favorite response is a grin and to say we homeschool, but these are fun too!
10. Well, normally yes, but this time of year I need help with the planting and plowing.
9. Goodness, no!!! I graduated 18 years ago, but thanks for the compliment!
8. No, we homeschool. We're just out to pick up a bag of pork rinds and some Mountain Dew, then we gotta hurry home to catch our soaps.
7. What?! Where did you guys come from?! I thought I told you to stay at school! I'm sorry. This happens all the time. (sigh)
6. There isn't? Why, you'd think we'd see more kids out then, don't you?
5. We're on a field trip studying human nature's intrusive and assumptive tactics of displaying ignorance and implied superiority. Thanks for the peek!
4. On our planet we have different methods of education. (Shhh! No, I didn't give it away!)

I get this question pretty much every time someone asks me what school I go to I say. "I am homschooled." Then the other person says something like. "Wow, cool! I guess you have friends right, it must be hard to make them since you homeschool. eh?"

I hate this comment and/or question!!! Its SO EASY to make friends when homeschooling. You just have to go out and do things you like to do. Sign up for homeschooling group in your area. Join clubs or voulenteer at a animal shelter.

Does anyone get this question too? How do you answer it without going up the wall!???!?

I'm homeschooled!!! I love it, but some people believe that it's another way to make our children lazy and ciuch potatoes. However, most University's and colleges are looking for homeschoolers, which is a plus!! What is your opinion?

Most homeschoolers and those who have been homeschooled that I know (myself and my children included) are very social and well-rounded. So, can we please drop the socialization issue!?

My daughter is being severly harrassed at school and we are moving in 2 months. I wanted to homeschool her until we move to the new location/school district. I heard she would have to start where she left off before homeschooling. We live in Texas.

I would like to home school my children (Canada), but with all the money it takes just to keep a household running these days two parents would have to work, no?

Supporting-questions:
Is home schooling only for families where the income of one parent is enough to support the whole family? Isn't that the whole point of putting the children in public school, so both parents can work (and support the 'economy'; help the rich get richer; etc.)?

Don't we need a break from our kids? It seems they need a break from us parents. They also need to get socialized.

stop talking about how superior your homeschooled kids are?

Big deal, they don't cuss -when you're around- and they like their church group. Your arrogance makes all of us look bad.

Please stop.

I see a lot of people on here say that home schoolers are more mature then public/private school kids. Public/private schooled children are so immature. Home schoolers are so much better.

And a while ago someone posted something about how kids are "growing up to fast" and becoming "little adults".

If a home schooled child is 12 years of age and he/she acts more mature then average 12 year olds, then wouldn't that home schooled child be considered a "little adult"?

Is home schooling promoting children to grow up to fast? Become little adults?

In my opinion I think some home schooling parents are trying to teach their children grow up to fast and act like mature little adults. Instead of letting the kid be a kid.

And I'm gonna say this again so people wont get mad, SOME HOME SCHOOLING PARENTS, NOT ALL.

I'd like to know what kind of programs better to use, the cost and how then they evaluate the kids' learning level. Is their any requirements for the parents?

As I read through the posts here I'm so surprised to see how many people don't believe homeschoolers are socialized.

It seems many picture all of our children locked away inside our homes with books and just us, never permitted to be around others. So the best way to combat this belief is education.

There are so many activities outside the home. There are homeschool groups children attend, play dates, co-ops, field trips & not to mention the church events. Dances aren't important to us.

My daughter has been busy as a bee preparing for the Christmas program at church, she does AWANA on Wednes. for two hours, and chose herself to not do dance lessons or cheerleading because her cup is already so full.

There's a Christian based sports/cheering program called Upwards.

I wanted to let all know there are just as many activities for homeschooled children as public schooled ones. I enjoy the events being under my supervision.

Hope this gave understanding. God bless

are you always over-protective of your kids? i have this friend, and we recently got to know each other. She was takin' one algebra class this semester at the college i attended, and still homeschooled. Her mum refuses her to hang out with us, or participate in the activities we do (like going to the movies and stuff). It's basically home and school. We talk on the phone and visit each other, but still that's as far as it goes. I was just wondering if all parents who homeschool their kids are this strict or over-protective, or it's just her mum?

p.s. i don't think it's a good idea to do this to children, cuz then they start rebelling, and they can rebel in an awful way if they are this restricted, and the consequences can be gruesome; i do hope my friend won't find the urge to do that because she's already told me she hates it.

Mike C asked in one of his answers: What does homeschooling say about you? He also asked: What does going through homeschooling teach your kids?

I'd love to hear homeschoolers' answers to these questions. :)

What I think homeschooling says about most HS families that I know is that they care very much about their kids, they are dedicated to them, they want something better for their kids during their childhood. They are willing to challenge themselves and put in the extra effort for their kids' benefit and not pass it all off to someone else.

As for what does going through homeschooling teach my kids (aside from the character and educational benefits many homeschoolers see in homeschooling), I think it teaches them that family is important, that it's okay to not be doing what everybody else is doing and that we love them enough to do what we feel is right for them, even if much of society disagrees.
