My best friend finally convinced her parents to homeschool her. Next week will be her last week in public school. I will be totally depressed and alone without her considering she is my only friend. I'm not a people person so I don't want to talk to the counselor and she is really mean anyway. My mom said I can be homeschooled next year but I need to be homeschooled now!!!
School gives me a bad feeling and makes me and my friends anxiety act up big time.
I need help here people and advice ASAP! I need to be out by next week!!!!!!!!!!

I'm doing my research for what I need to do to begin to homeschool my son. I've already found the curriculum requirement and some law info for Texas, but I'm still confused as to whether or not I need to set aside special training for the TAKS statewide testing. I"m assuming the TAKS is more for grade promoting and state funding for schools. But if we continue until he is college ready, will he need to take some type of evaluation or testing that may be TAKS based? Thanks for your answers.

I began homeschooling my 4-year-old last September. So far we've been pretty casual. I didn't want to push the academics too hard. We've been doing about an hour a day, each day doing a different subject. Some of those days are Art or Music, so it doesn't feel like "school." Even on Math days, we'll play math games for an hour, so it's still pretty casual.

After evaluating my son's growth over the past few months, I've realized that he is reading almost at the end of a first grade level, and has math skills are also approaching 2nd grade levels. I feel like he might need a little more. (Not necessairily in academics, but in enrichment or socialization, etc.) I was just wondering what other homeschooled kindergarten's days look like. How structured are they? How much "school" do they do? How consistant are you from day to day?

Use truth tables to establish the following logical equivalencies known as the distributive laws.

1.P v (Q ^ R) ≡ (P v Q) ^ (P v R)
------------------------------------------------------------

2.P ^ (Q v R) ≡ (P^Q) v (P^R)

I am having some concerns about sending my son to public school. Pedophiles, bullies etc. I would like to know some of the bennefits and drawbacks of homeschooling. I am just considering this as a possible solution to my fears of sending him to school. He is always with me and I am finding it very hard to get used to the idea of letting a total stranger look after him and keep him safe for the bulk of the day.

What do I say to people who are against me homeschooling my kids and cite the ancient "socialization" myth as their reasoning? I know that no amount of logic can make people see what is right in front of their faces (or make them magically start thinking in THIS century), but I am so sick of this ancient reason to question homeschool.

We are considering homeschooling our son, who will be 5 next month, this fall. I am a college instructor myself so I know how important a good education is. It is such a difficult decision to make though! I have a few questions. I know we are going to have to make our own decisions but I wanted to get some other opinions as well. Thanks!

1) Is it extremely difficult (or nearly impossible) to spend the necessary time with a homeschooled child when you also have a two year old or newborn (or worse yet...BOTH!) at home?

2) Is it better to use a specific curriculum or mix and match? Which ones are good (preferably Christian)?

3) I have read a lot about unit studies. Are they a better way to homeschool?

Thanks!
