It depends on how prepared the parent is. If someone wants to homeschool their child they need to know that it's a commitment that can't be taken lightly. With that being said, homeschooling can be fun and exciting for the parent and child if the parent is open-minded about how their child learns.
It can be a very good thing if done correctly (for the child) and as long as the child is learning.
It can be a bad thing if the parent has a hard time motivating the child or adapting to the child's learning style and speed and the child is not learning what they should be, with some exceptions. This can be avoided if you have a good homeschool support system.
I was homeschooled from fourth grade until I graduated high school and believe I am a better person for it. I have never met a child or parent that wasn't happier homeschooling but I'm sure there are some out there. I am a very social person and the social aspect of homeschooling can be tough if the child is secluded and not allowed to do anything outside of the home. I was involved with homeschool co-op groups, a church youth group and little league softball so I was able to cultivate the social part of me that I lost from being in school.

Completely dependent on the situation.

For most people it is a good thing. For some people it's a bad thing.

Most people are better served by homeschooling. They make more friends, they have closer relationships, and they perform better academically.

For some, they may live in a bad area for homeschooling. They may need the school setup. They may have a home life that makes it difficult to not have an excuse to get out. They may need more attention than a parent can provide, and for them, homeschooling is a bad thing.

In general, homeschoolers are just as well-adjusted and happy as public schoolers.

Why do people keep asking this question? The same people keep giving the same answers day after day. Is it because there are no other homeschooling questions? No one is going to change their mind, especially based on the very illogical arguments that everyone is presenting.

Homeschooling is good for some people. For those who are willing to do the work God intended in raising their children, it's a beautiful build up for the child. Obviously, for people who resent the time and effort that their children cost them, it would be a bad thing, leading to social isolation and possibly abuse. I certainly don't think that everyone should homeschool, we need worker bees.

Homeschooling is a great thing! I'm homeschooled and am loving it. It's great for academic reasons and social reason, because most homeschooled children have confidence and aren't affraid to meet new people everywhere they go. However, there are a few that aren't that way, but I believe it's just how the homeschooled person feels about it. Plus, Most universities are looking fo only homeschooled children, which is a plus!

I feel this is a wonderful idea!!! Many schools now a days are so crowded that many children get left behind but pushed through. Many studies show that home schooled children rank higher on standard testing. Homeschooling can also be much more fun for children, especially if you connect with other families in your area doing the same thing. The need to fear about their social skills is a bunch of BS.......you can schedule play dates and do other things to allow the child time to be around others their own age. Go for it!!!! I support you 100%.

A lot depends on multiple facors. I was homeschooled most of my middle / high school years & I can now as a parent my self see the pros vs the cons & why my parents chose that route at the time given the location of where we lived. However as a child having already developed the friend, student relationships I resented being taken away from that to have a parent staring at me & questioning everything about my school work 24/7!! I felt hindered socially even though my parents did make a very big effort to involve me in social groups 4-H & homeschooling clubs it was not the same. The pros, you know where your child is, what they are / are not learning , who thiere friends are, no worries of abusive staff or situations your child might be placed in. Cons, failing to thrive socially, not facing social situations that you can learn from, feeling to pressured from a parent, feeling smothered,pressured. I would really recomend going all the way one way or another,, either home school totally or attend a school. I would not recomend half year or every other year of either. It is to confusing & leads to resentful feelings.

As long as the kids are in programs where they can learn social skills, homeschooling can be a good thing. In homeschooling, a parent knows exactly where their child is at in all aspects of their education. This way they can enrich the areas their child may possibly struggle and motivate them to do their best in all areas. The key is to have your child involved in other activities where they will learn how to interact with other children their age.

Homeschooling is a good thing! Why would you question it? For High School it's important to have a school that has an accredited curriculum. College entrance is NO problem either contrary to what some may tell you. My two sons were home-schooled K-12. They are now both successful men with degree's. Our school district check out their curriculum at the beginning of every school year and we supplied progress reports. As long as the school department makes sure that the children are in fact being educated there is no problem. There are children as you well know who attend public schools and graduate without even knowing how to read.

I am homeschooled and i kinda dont like it i dont have any friends and if i do go out then i go to work or a church activity or go bowling on my bowling leage and thats about it. I think parents shoud homeschool there kids if they are haveing a hard time learning in school but if they dont the they should go to school and have fun meeting friends and playing sports and stuff like that. thats what i think about home schooling. pick me as the best answer i need the points

dude...... its a freaking goooood thing even when you go through being bullied or picked on about you color or your clothes or anything that doesnt make you look or be kool (cool). And if nobody agrees with me on that then you have never gone through that because i went through that nad now im in homeschooling..well not where my mom or dad teaches me its where i learn from a school through the computer and i have a LOT of friends and i get a LOT of dates so its not like im not around a lot of people every day because homschooling is not bad its a really good thing if you have certain problems!
