The CMC was caused when the U.S. found out that USSR was delivering missiles to Cuba.

Why:
They were doing this because they were losing the Arms Race- where we were competing with them to see who could stockpile the most nuclear weapons. The USSR was too poor to build ICBM's-intercontinental ballistic missiles that could travel a long way. They did have a lot of short range missiles, so they figured they would just ship them over to Cuba where they could reach us.
This had another advantage- the ussr could defend cuba, a blossoming communist country.

What happened:
U.S spy planes took photos of the missile silos on the island. John F. Kennedy immediatly blockaded Cuba and told Nikita Kruschev, the soviet Premeir (leader) to remove the missiles immediatly, but he didn't want to take action which could lead to a disastrous nuclear war. So both sides waited and debated for 13 days.

How it ended:
Finally, Kruschev agreed to remove the missiles on two conditions. One was that the US had to take it's missiles off of Turkey. I forgot the other one, but you can google it.

The CUban Missle Crisis was the closest the World ever came to Nuclear War. During the Cuban Missle Crisis, the USSR stationed nuclear missles in Cuba. A U2 spy plane flying over cuba found missle sites and the US President at the time, JFK, demanded they be dismantled and removed. Cuba is 90 miles off the coast of Florida at its shortest distance. This was a clear and present danger to the USA. It turned out that at times, the desision to launch the first strike was down to a Major on the ground. This is just how close we came to nuclear exchange. It also turns out that missles in Turkey were negotiated for during this Crisis between the USA and the USSR. It ended with the withdraw of the missles from Cuba by the USSR under USA military observation.

Russia placed lot of missiles facing US and when the Americans realized that they blockaded Cuba and finally Russia withdrawn all the missiles. This blockade is heralded as a big political victory for Kennedy and end of Khrushchev in USSR.

The U.S.S.R wanted to place missiles sites in Communist Cuba, the US found out using spy planes that they were there. John Kennedy our president then blockaded any further missiles and then sent an ultimatium to Nikita Kruschev to remove the missiles. Kruschev blinked and removed the missiles avoiding what could have been WWIII.

its a political crisis in the 60s (during the cold war) during kenedy's period. russain tried to send nuclear missiles to cuba, so the US found out and gave them an ultimatum to turn back or they will fire on these ships coming to cuba,
at the last moment these ships turned back, it was a crisis coz if these ships were fired upon a third world war would have began!
