We are new to homeschooling, and I have been trying to find a place to buy material online, as we live on the Amazon as missionaries. Someone suggested Switched on Schoolhouse, but when I do a search for it, I get thousands of hits. Where is the best place to buy homeschool stuff in your experience?

I have a seven year old son. I would like to find a good kids site that has age-appropriate content along with email. Of course, I'd like to find a good FREE one. Also, are there any good ones for homeschooled kids that fit in this category?

I home school my 4 children (although 1 of them is not old enough, he will be following the footsteps of his siblings). I have heard an endless amount of negative things about home education on y/a and therefore i was hesitant to let on that i have made this decision, but in doing so i have found that the only negative feed back i got was from my own family, my own as well as in laws. People i meet in shopping centers or strike up a conversation with in the bank or at the park are actually very nice, they are interested and actually praise me for my efforts, and if i see them again i'm introduced as "that amazing lady who manages to raise 4 kids and home school them"....its a great feeling to be recognized for what your trying to accomplish. Why do my own family (mother/father/brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles and the like) only see the negative and refuse to listen to my side and see the benefits...my kids didn't get this amazing without me so obviously i'm doing something right....right

Homeschoolers, have you read about the homeschool family in Germany, where families are facing jail, and children are being taken away from their parents just because they want to homeschool? (See the story at http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54425)

When you see something like this, do you get involved? Do you send letters or e-mails to try to help? Have your homeschool friends or anyone you know gotten involved in trying to help this family? Do you have any ideas on how to mobilize people, especially US homeschoolers, into helping?

I have used HomeSat for a few years for science and have been happy with it, but my kids are getting ready to start high school, and I was wondering how Apologia science would compare. It looks to me like it would take less time. They have a book, a CD with additional video clips and experiments, and even an audio CD of the book for one of my kids that has reading difficulties. Has anyone out there used the Apologia Science?

People constantly say that homeschoolers are somehow less educated or are emotionally disturbed??
Why haven't people accepted the fact that homeschoolers are very well off? And that compared to the number of children who are failing in public schools, the percent of homeschoolers who dont fare well is only fractional?
