I suppose if you chose your books form your local (preferrably university) library; so your books owuld be free and then your only cost would be supplies - but that's always the case anyway.
You'll still have to pay for standardized testing to see where you stand and how much you improve....chances are you'll be far above the average ;)
Dont tell me they're actually somehow charging people who decide to do that???
Do a simple google of homeschool and all kinds of crud will come up ;) Throw in the word free and see what happens.....

I'm currently using a free online homeschool program. Its called K12 and is with CAVA (California Virtual Academy). Its free, but excellent. The highschool courses are just a bit harder than usualy classes, but a bit easier than Advance Placement. It provides a computer, it pays for a portion of your internet fee, textbooks, and all lab materials. Check it out!

There is a Yahoo Group (FreeHomeschoolTools) that is for offering and receiving FREE homeschooling materials, curricula, etc. All that you have to pay is for the postage. There are also many links to other free sites for worksheets, curriculum, interactive programs and so much more. Please check it out. Homeschooling can be free or nearly free.

I believe people have said that k-12.com is free. You'd have to check it out to see though.
And Rita, Columbia U. found that homeschoolers scored higher on college entrance exams than p.s. students. Where are you getting your information from?
