Yes, My daughter used Apologia for General Science.
It definitely has pros and cons.
The pros: excellent material. My daughter is very strong in science and this not only kept her attention but really boosted her knowledge of science. She switched to ABeka Biology this year and maintains a 97 average in this class. Can't help but think part of it is due to the Apologia background she has.
she used the CD rom based program and we both liked the way it was delivered. She read some, some was read to her (think classroom setting, teacher explaining), there were video clips. After each new idea, it would pause to give some comprehension type questions.
The Cons: the text (including the computer based one) can be a bit dry. The actual text book is very text intensive and may not appeal to visual or hands on learners. My daughter tends to be distracted by more visual things, and does better with text intensive materials. The experiments can be a shot in the dark. The materials are not hard to come by at all, but they don't always work (we found this across the board) The plus side to that is it is very easy to figure out what they were going for, so you are able to learn from it.
The testing materials and answer keys are on a separate disk on the computer edition. We have two computers, so it was quite easy to keep it all separate and make sure there was no (peeking) going on. I also liked that I could go in and see where she was and what she needed to do. The material is also very teacher friendly and it is easy to jump in and explain things to supplement the teaching they provide.

Yes. My Mom used it as my high-school chemistry course. I think it is a good science course. When I used it I did experiments that were in the book. The majority of these experiments used things that you would already have in your house. Also it will help them later if they take any science courses in college. I like it because I am taking college-level chemistry right now and I understand the concepts because they were explained very clearly in high school chemistry.

Unless you are a believer in Creationism, I would not recommend this text. It is very shaky on science and strong on faith. My two cents as a scientist and homeschool Mom. I use Real Science 4 Kids and like it much better!

i'm utilising the Apologia application presently and easily like it! I easily have heard that chemistry is one in all their perfect. of path, the professor is a christian, and he warns you in the books how he is going to be biased over specific perspectives. yet he says each and every technology e book is going to be biased although complicated the author tries. he will provide you the view factors of absolutely everyone, and inform you what his view element is. the stable issues with regard to the Apologia books is that when you examine it, this is totally practically such as you're having a communique with Dr. Wile (the professor.) in the time of the classes there are questions that he will have you ever think of approximately and function you write down your answer. in the time of the classes he could provide up you for an test to objective that may assist you grow to be sparkling on what he's speaking approximately. I took a public college textbook in my 5th grade twelve months for technology. I undergo in strategies analyzing that first financial disaster returned and returned returned, attempting as complicated as i could desire to to determine what they have been speaking approximately. No getting to understand became into happening, in simple terms suffering. From then on i presumed I hated technology. yet then this final twelve months i individually needed to take technology up returned, by utilising textbook I advise. i desperate to work out if there have been any stable homeschool textbooks. i chanced in this one had great comments and that i attempted it out. Ever when you consider that technology has been one in all my popular matters! sure, he makes you study complicated, he warns you on the beginning up which you will could desire to pay interest and study. yet for those scholars who pass in with an open strategies, it is going to be hassle-free for them to pay interest because of the fact each and every thing is so thrilling! of path the examining undertaking seems after itself with motivation for stable grades on your assessments (assessments and prep assessments are lined.)

We use the "God's Design" series. It's very thorough.
Incidentally, I have a problem with the word "apologetics"; maybe it's just me. If anyone should be apologetic about science, it should be the idiots who spew lies and opinions and try to call them facts.

I have not used it, but I have heard good recommendations. My kids just aren't there yet. There were a few ladies at my local homeschool store who raved about it though. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I don't use it (my oldest is only 9) but it's a very popular program among high school homeschoolers over here.
