Doesn't make a difference as long as you pass their entrance exams. I was homeschooled from the 5 on up.
When I took my test to get into college, my scores showed that I was already at a two year college level. Went to our state college and it is known to be a very prestigious school.

Actually, contrary to what you might think, homeschooling can be a fine source of education. The danger in homeschooling is not that colleges won't accept you, but that your peers won't accept you. You must be careful not to sever your current social ties if you are to be homeschooled. But back to your question...

I know a family of three children that have been homeschooled. They're a little weird, but they all left for college at age 16 or 17. Two are at state universities, one is at a well known private university.

When you're homeschooled, colleges won't discriminate as long as you score well on your SAT or ACT or whatever entrance test is required in your state or preferred college. Community service and extracurriculars also help. My homeschooled friends were allowed to be involved with various extracurriculars at the local public school. I'd also recommend learning an instrument.
Homeschooling does a great job in preparing you for these exams because the curriculum is focused and the instructor's attention belongs entirely to you. You will have no temptation to be distracted, and no inclination to slouch in your studies.

Homeschooling is probably the best (and cheapest) way to become "book smart", which is what colleges look for. So worry not.

I run a homeschool group, and have for eighteen years now. If you are going to be homeschooled independently, then you need to name your private school, keep good records, and research how to make proper transcripts.

To answer your question, homeschoolers in general are heavily recruited by all colleges and universities (except Rice, for some reason)!! Colleges know that homeschoolers are practiced at independent learning and less affected by social drama. I have about 180 students in our group...all over the US. Last year, of our 30 seniors, 22 of them went on to college, 2 went to tech school, 1 went to Pixar Training, and 2 went into West Point! That means 92% of our senior class was accepted into a higher learning institution! (Over half went on full scholarship, too!)

Don't let them fool you... homeschooling is really a hot market right now, but it has to be done right!

Most colleges are beginning to find that homeschooled students are more academically disciplined because they are brought up to learn how to focus. There are minimal distractions in a homeschool environment. And being a homeschool parent, I know that there are many homeschoolers who go to college and fare very well. Most colleges look for homeschoolers now. My relative that is a military recruiter even said that they look for homeschoolers because they actually test higher than kids who went to public school.

i am afraid whitey has no clue as to what she's saying. major misinformation. homeschool students can simply get their GED and then enroll in the college of choice, it's that simple. and its done everywhere! harvard, cal tech, and A&M where my brother and sister went to and they were homeschooled. they did exceptionally well on their SATs and entrance exams! dont underestimate a homeschool education, remember it was a homeschooled kid that wrote Eragon!! he was 15 at the time!

If you are considering homeschooling, make sure you are able to get a legitimate high school diploma. It is difficult get into college when you are home-schooled. But the things I know now, would have been helpful when I was done with high school.

After you graduated with a diploma, contact your school district and work with the guidance counselor. Also take your SATs, it will help you get scholarships and grants as well. There is help out there, you just have to know where to find it.

Its a lot harder to get into colleges when your home schooled if not nearly impossible. It all depends on what college you want to go to.

Here ya go, where do you want to go to college?
Entries followed by double exclamation points (!!) are those confirmed to have admitted at least one homeschooled applicant.
