Hi!

I am planning on becoming a doctor and after completing my undergrad, I know that I am going to med school. I am a senior in high school, and as that frightful time of college apps approaches, I am not sure where I should apply. I am a pretty good student, and I got a 32 on my ACT. Should I apply to a small school or even a state school since they are cheaper (I was thinking UNC-Chapel Hill or OSU or U of Michigan), or should I try and get into a really good university like Vanderbilt or Cornell or something for my undergrad?

I passed 9th grade but I did badly on my school work and barely passed with a 73 percentile. I failed 10th grade, but when my mother moved me out to California to change my attitude, instead of keeping me as a sophomore like Texas was going to do, they put me as a junior. So, now I go to a continuation high school, and I'm doing well. Before I got out to California, I knew I wasn't going to be able to go to college, but since I been at my school, I've changed my attitude and I actually want to go to college.

My GPA in 9th grade was 1.7
10th grade was .7
11th grade it jumped to 2.8

If I get all of my required stuff out of the way before I graduate and keep my grades way above 90 percentile like I have been, do you think the college(s) will overlook freshman and sophomore years?

I think I want to go to a liberal arts, but thats not set in stone yet. I want the university to a great school in an urban area that won't cost too much. (I know thats kind of hard to find) I would also like to try from the middle to the east side of the country but thats not a requirement. Im also planning on going to medical school when Im done with my undergrad, so it would be helpful if the school also specialized in something medical.

I have attended a community college. I have not attended the community college for one semester. I really would like to go back to get my degree. However, I have been thinking about going to a different college becuase they would have the major that I would be intrested in prusing. My question is should I go back to the community college to finish up or go to the college that has the major that I am intrested in? Is it true about once you leave college you never go back?

I'm just curious...
Is it really going to be a problem for other countries' students and is it allowed in high schools or colleges?
My sisters married early but she said "No, it's not a problem at all." and I want other peoples' opinions and I want to see if it's true or not.

I have been trying to source a university or other learning institution that offers free on-line degree tuition and exams, etc. I know I am probably asking the impossible, but if you know of any please let me know.

The subject at this point in time is irrelevant.

I already have one "W" on my transcript, which I wasn't aware of until I actually saw my grade after semester was over (apparently I didn't show up to class enough, and the teacher put a "W")..and I am now approaching the deadline to drop one of my classes and receive a "W" on my transcript.

The class has gotten way too difficult within the past week and I'm just wondering if I should take the "W" or risk getting a D or F on my transcript? Also, does a "W" affect my gpa? And will having 2 within one year look bad for when I transfer?

I just graduated from highschool and I'm set for college... I start on Sept 5th... I was totally excited about it and i was going to romm with my bestfriend and now shes not going because she didnt meet the requirements so I'm kind of down on that. The college is a few hours away from home but I've also been thinking about taking a year off or maybe just going to the tech to get my basics done with and then transfering over to college later... I dont know what to do... I dont think I'm ready and money is a small issue... I was suppose to get a particular grant and didnt so now i have to do work study... which im not looking forward to... So I was thinking of taking a year to save up some money??? My family is totally against all this and just want me to go straight to college but I dont want to go unprepared and fail out within the first year... that wont give me much encouragement at all... So what do you think? Should I go and try it out? I have to live in a dorm for 2yrs at least..

Hey does anyone have advise on driving/moving into a college near Boson from New Jersey?

I'm going to be an incoming freshman this fall, and my parents have never driven to Massachusetts or the Boston area, and I'm going to be dorming in a college near to Boston. I don't want to travel and carry all my dorm luggage on a train and so I want the service of a moving van with a person that can drive myself and my dad (and my stuff) to the Boston area from New Jersey. Has anyone ever had this problem and found a company who helped them?????

I'm 23 and I really want to get back into the college life. I've been working fulltime since I was 17 and have always put college on the back burner, not by choice, but I don't have any options, but to put work, bills, and first. I have been going part time on and off, since I graduated high school. My general courses are complete, and I'm not sure what to do now. I'm nervous about going to a university. It was a year ago, that I took my last general course at a community college, so I haven't done the school thing in a bit. How do I get back into school? How do I make things work financially, emotionally, and time wise, with both work and school? Another thing, I don't know anyone going to my local university, I don't know how everything works. A lot of courses I took at the community college, I took online, and really haven't met anyone in college. I almost feel like I've missed the boat and that it's too late for me to get back into school, but I really want to try.

I have kind of already made up my mind and changed my major to phys and chem double major, but I'd like to know what people here think, is it a good idea to get a double major degree instead of say just chem or phys. I am interested in physical chemistry though, it's not like I can't decide what to do. It is going to take at least an extra semester, but if you think about it, about MSc and PhD and all, half a year or a year is not going to make a big difference.
