I have kind of already made up my mind and changed my major to phys and chem double major, but I'd like to know what people here think, is it a good idea to get a double major degree instead of say just chem or phys. I am interested in physical chemistry though, it's not like I can't decide what to do. It is going to take at least an extra semester, but if you think about it, about MSc and PhD and all, half a year or a year is not going to make a big difference.

Double majoring is hard, but its doable (I'm doing it right now). It sounds like your planning on going to grad school, so having the solid background in both subjects might help you in your future studies, especially if you plan to do a lot of research. If you dont want to stay the extra semester, you could major in one and minor in the other instead.

Go for it. If you want to be a researcher or a professor, you will be pleased to have the extra education.
