Higher Education (University +) - January 2007

Or until what time will they stay up until? would it be like studying everyday until 1 am. I dont know how many hours of studying to expect. I am a serious student that will be a pre-med student next year.

I'm a sophomore right now in highschool, I am worried about my progress in school. Last years GPA was a 3.51. which is fairly low (especially since I am an asian male). I know I can get at least a 3.8 this year, and possibly a 4.1 next year.

Do colleges like it if your GPA increases throughout the four years? Or am I screwed already because even if I average 3.51, 3.8, 4.1, and 4.25, my final GPA is still only 3.92?

I know that pre-med major get you general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and physics with calculus. But besides grades(GPA) and MCAT scores and volunterring in the hospital in summer, that's pretty much it right? or is there more to do to get into medical school. If you have high GPA say 3.7 and MCAT scores of 10 in each section and some voulunterring hours, its good enough to go to say UCLA med school?

I tried Amazon, but that is the only place I have heard of with a good reputation and good prices. Is there any where else? I appreciate all the help! At the school the books would cost me $445. With Amazon I'm down to $260, but I'm still looking for some better prices on some of the books. I'm looking for new or gently used books. Thanks again!

I'm a freshman in college. I've taken my ACT tests. I've done the necessary paper work. I'm in school. My cousin is a senior in high school. It is the beginning of the second semester and she hasn't taken an ACT or an SAT. She is runing out of time. I told her the other day that when fall rolls around if she's not taken any of the tests then she will not get into ANY college at all. She still doesn't seem to get it. My Aunt doesn't listen either. Is there anything I can say or do differently that will get the point across? At the time my Aunt was in college, they didn't have to take the tests. She is out of the loop. Thoughts. Opinions.

um~i applied to a college for early action and after 2 months they send me a letter saying that they need additonal information about me (mid-year grades) ...plus telling me that i'm no longer in the early action program and now being considered with overall applicant pool............so my question is ...is this a different way of saying that

I'm in a major right now that I hate!!! I feel like my dreams are poisoned..but...this major will help me get a job even if it's in the section I wanted but not the field. The other major I want..is well very mind expanding...but very un marketable...but I would love doing it. So which should I choose? also I CANNOT change my minor or make one of these my minor...
option 1) economics...to help in global development you must understand how the world works..ie:money...this is smart and does make one realistic about the world's greed...but so boring that I hate every class I sit in I feel dead! but for many foreign service agencies this is a plus.
Option 2) Cultural anthropology...I could study different cultures, talk about issues of rascism and gender...just study the human animal...I would LOVE to take this...but unmarketable..I might be able to work in the non profit sector..but I would be happier..poor but happy!
Plez help, I have to change courses soon!

I'm a junior in high school, and I am looking into where I am going in terms of colleges and universities, specifically majoring in civil engineering. I have a 3.35 GPA, and I have yet to take the SAT Reasoning Test in May 2007. So, using my current GPA as a guide, can anyone find a college or university that can I work with?
