1. Cal Poly SLO
2. Cal Poly Pomona
3. SF State
4. SDSU
5. Fresno State
The Cal Polys have great math, science and agriculture programs. Fresno and Sonoma State also have great ag programs (especially in viticulture and enology) and well as technical fields. SF State and SDSU are good all-around schools, not necessarily specialized.
Other schools have good reputations for certain qualities and subjects. CSUN is the best CSU school in the LA metro area, popular with commuters. CSU Bakersfield and Long Beach have very good nursing programs.
