I'm in a major right now that I hate!!! I feel like my dreams are poisoned..but...this major will help me get a job even if it's in the section I wanted but not the field. The other major I want..is well very mind expanding...but very un marketable...but I would love doing it. So which should I choose? also I CANNOT change my minor or make one of these my minor...
option 1) economics...to help in global development you must understand how the world works..ie:money...this is smart and does make one realistic about the world's greed...but so boring that I hate every class I sit in I feel dead! but for many foreign service agencies this is a plus.
Option 2) Cultural anthropology...I could study different cultures, talk about issues of rascism and gender...just study the human animal...I would LOVE to take this...but unmarketable..I might be able to work in the non profit sector..but I would be happier..poor but happy!
Plez help, I have to change courses soon!

How about you combine the two and take International Business and Relations? That way you have a very good degree to "fall back" on and you can mix a bunch of electives in culture with the structures of business.

If you don't want to or can't do that, then major in cultural anthropology! But keep going at it, get your doctorate and teach it. Trust me, you won't be poor being a college professor. It's not one of the best careers for 2007.

Sometimes the classes are much more dull than the real thing. My major classes weren't too exciting, but I was still in to them. If you know you'll be unhappy, then follow your passion. You should always choose the major/career you have the most interest in. Otherwise, 20 years down the road you'll hate yourself. Tip: Figure out what you wouldn't mind doing for the rest of your life for free and do that! This means you truly love that path more than others.

What many people dont tell you is that its not always important what degree you have just that you have one. When you go to apply for jobs just make sure you know how to market your degree to fit that job description.

I have known people who studied history and worked in accounting so you never know what career path you will end up on. I would say choose the major that you are most intersted in because you will do better in school the high GPA will help you get a job later on. If you go for more interesting but less makretable major try to pick a practical minor it will make you look more balanced in your education and it can be something to fall back on.

good luck

Well I'd say major in engineering and maybe minor in golf management? Also if you make some good money you could always go back for golf management.

Follow your passion. Take it from someone who didn't.
