Jesus (not Christ) was Jewish. He was not a rabbi. He was a traveling teacher.

Some Jews decided he was the Jewish messiah. Many more disagreed.

After Jesus died, one Jew named Saul eventually decided that Jesus was indeed the messiah, but not just for Jews. Saul changed his name to Paul and started telling non-Jews about this guy named Jesus. By so doing, Paul invented Christianity.

Jesus was JUDEAN. He was called Rabbi because in those days it meant "teacher", after he was crucifud, he became CHRIST, Hence his believers are called "Christians"...meaning believers of Christ Jesus. If you read the old testament it fortold his coming, but it did not say he would be called Jesus "Christ", just that his name will be "Jesus". It is only in the new testament (after God rose him from the dead) that he is called Christ Jesus.
