All the colleges sound the same to me! And there are thousands of them!

I don't want to go to any ivy league school, but i do want it to be more selective. i don't want a focus on sports. i want to live on campus. i want it to be in northern US. i don't know what i want to be but i prefer art, writing, languages, psychology, and philosophy. things that give you room to think creatively and not just straight facts like maths and engineering.

i understand that you have to look online, in books, or in pamphlets, visit schools, etcetera. i have done searches online, but i can't seem to narrow down the choices, and i definately CAN NOT find anything that stands out to me! i have no idea what else i can do..and maybe you have recommendations?

I always put it off, and I write well under pressure for some reason. So it seems I just can't get anything down on paper until just before the due date.

Is there anything that helps you overcome this?

I have never had trouble finding something that interests me in a field of study. The problem I have is chosing one to stick with. Psychology has always been very, very interesing to me, and I know there are many career opportunities to be had after grad school. But my heart has always been with English. I love reading, writing, analyzing, and thinking critically. I'm a freshman at the University at Buffalo currently as a Psych major but I don't think that I can pick one without the other and be truly happy. Is it possible to enter grad school for psych with a BA in English, or does it have to be psych? My ideal situation would be an English major with a minor in philosophy and some coursework in Psych and then go on to graduate school for psychology. Is this possible?

Hi everyone,
I'm an Undergrad student and need your advice: I already have a minor but I'm 2 courses away from getting a 2nd minor in Womens Studies. Do you think I should go ahead and do it? The 2 classes that I still need are really easy, but I don't really care much for having a second minor, and one in women's studies. But 2 classes is nothing and they fit into my schedule next term. Money isn't an issue either. Should I just go ahead and do it? What do u think + thanks!

I am transferring from dallas county community college to the university of texas next fall. I attended collin county about 10 years ago, and my gpa was terrible, I was working 80 hours a week and just could not do it all. Now I have a 3.8 gpa from dcccd and want to transfer, BUT, I did not tell dallas county I have previously attended collin county. When I transfer if I don't tell them at UTA that I have credits at collin county will they know? I hate that I was not honest, I just wanted a fresh start. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am a graduate student in a math dept. as you can guess, i earn very little money; however I was always proud that at the very least i am not taking charity from anyone (my undergrad had a full tuition schol and stipend so i never took a dollar from parents after age 18) of late i have been wondering why all univs from harvard to whatever, agree that my salary should be the lowest of all, inlc janitors, security guards, etc. we all know that some work is high and some work is low, else all pays would be equal(let's be practical) and that those above despise those below, so is my work the lowest of all? recently i disclosed this to an elderly woman who is a friend, and she tells me that i should be thankful to have tution and TAship and the chance to stay alive. all of a sudden, i feel like a parasite; is the univ doing me a favour by keeping me alive; so the air i breathe, the food i eat, is it all just robbery? in that case, should i die? Am i a burden on society?

I'm looking for an overseas graduate experience after having graduated from a pretty well-known and respected university in the US. I'm worried, however, that a degree from outside the US simply won't command respect. I can almost picture future employers glossing over my CV/resume and saying 'hmmm, I never heard of this school. Next...'
Furthermore, I've always dreamt of working outside the US. Would going to school abroad at the graduate level (i.e. Master's) improve my chances at all of landing a job overseas? Or am I better off saving the airfare and staying in the US?

No extracurriculars except yearbook and some volunteer work and community service.

Would it be better for me to go to a community college until I get my grades straightened out, then to the school of my choice (Cornell University-School of Hotel Administration) and then further my degree in the prestigious business school of NYC- Stern University and STILL apply to all my choices??

I am a senior in high school. It's december and I have NOT applied to any college or university yet. I don't where or how to begin. I do not know what school would be the best one and the applications are so confusing..Iam practically lost. My guidance counselor does not help me at all..my family doesn't speak English so no help from there either. I am ALL by myself trying to find a school. I know I am late in my attempt to find a college but I really would like to get in a good college. My High school GPA is about 2.8 and my SAT Reasoning Test scores are about 500 each, my math section was the lowest one with the score of 480.
I want to apply to Cornell University (School of Hotel Administration) this is my first choice. My second choice is Cornell University The Johnson School

Also, can I go to a 4-year Hotel management school and then maybe get my doctoral in a prestigious Business School such as Stern University of New York? Is the Hope For Me??

Please help. Thanks

I have a 2 year degree in math and I am trying to find a distance based Computer Science program. I've only found one from florida state and university of illinois. Florida State and Troy University require you to have a calculus based physics sequence which is not feasible because I work full time. I'm looking for nationally recognized & accredited colleges, and not degree mills such as phoenix, aiu, itt, etc. I am seeking a BS in Computer Science. Not IT or IS. Computer Science.

Thank You
