Surgeon, you get to save lives everyday and really feel as if you make a difference! There are down sides of course to both careers, but the real question is which one are you really passionate about, its not just a career its your day to day life that affects other peoples lives?

how well do you lie? lol seriously..do you want to spend your life defending people who you know is guilty or saving lives. It depends on what you want to do..There is good money in both..Doctors have HIGH liability rates especially if you are a surgeon, ob/gyn, or some kind of speciality..There is always a demand for doctors...we could use some good ones here..ours suck..I don't think anyone can tell you what to do..you have to decide that..you need to decide what you want to do everyday for the rest of your life..When doctors are in residency and internship they work sometimes 72 hours on call at a time..you need to consider that...It's very stressful and demanding but it's something different everyday..every patient is different..it's never the same boring thing..you never know what to expect. what you think is simple can turn out to be a major big deal..you have to always be ready..if that's not what you want..don't be a doctor.

If you are caring I think law in areas such as legal aid or human rights would be very noble. The money would be in areas such as workers comp/insurance. Don't study medicine for money (there isn't much and it will be years before you see it) or for prestige as most ppl speak of how time poor, rude, arrogant and hopless doctors are.
If you need to ask, I don't think either is right for you. Follow your passion and forget money, impressing others and ego.

Medicine is better economically and socially, but can your stomach handle all the blood and the grisly things you're going to be doing to the human body?

We have enough lawyers already (at least trial lawyers). What kind of medicine? I think medical careers are far more valuable in general.
