So its easy to get lost in the shuffle at public colleges, but its just as easy to get lost in the 'perfect' little world of private colleges. If price wasn't the factor, would you choose to attend a lowly ranked private univeristy, or a highly ranked public one? That is, do you think the individual attention you recieve in private unis would balance out their mediocre education? Would the lack of this attention, and other tensions at a public university balance out its great education?

Hi,

I need to pick a college major, there's a couple of options for me, is it better to do something specific like computer science or statistics

or just do an honours math degree which gives me the flexibility to take the math courses I'm interested in, but then it won't be specific.

Out in the real world, what matters most when looking for your job? work experience, name of the degree (BA, BSc, BMath) or the actual major ?

Because I don't wanna be cornered to just do one thing, but at the same time, I don't know if the real world is lookin' for specifialization or flexible knowledge.

P.S. I have a lot of work experience, internship, etc.

I've been looking for a career that I can enjoy and actually do at the same time, I'm planning on going to college to be a paralegal, but I am not sure that is the field I want to be in. I don't just want to pick something for the sake of it. I looked at the paper and saw graphic design and I thought that would be really cool but hard work, but I am not sure about the job market and exactly were a graphic designer might work?

I previously had resolved to minor in visual communications and keep my major but I am having conflicting views on whether I should just change my major altogether. The thing is I love animals, and I love working with them. However I also love visual communications and I am kinda getting better at it. So I was thinking if it were possible for me to major in VC then minor in biology and get a graduate degree in zoology. I am sure it is really hard to do that. But then if I minor in VC i feel like i am cutting my options off with what I can learn about VC.
Many ppl have suggested I just major in VC and be a graphic designer for a zoo, but I'd still really want to work with animals!
And then I thought, well would anyone consider a minor in VC in case I wanted to take a break from animals and work on websites and graphics? lol I know this is becoming quite complexed but its vexing me and I cant figure out what I should do!

College really seems like the new high school. Anyone can do it. You would have to be an absolute idiot not to do it. I think masters work is now equivalent to what a regular college degree used to be.

After having lost my last job, I decided to swithc career fields and get a Masters in Accounting degree from UT Austin (ranked #1 for the field). However after having started, I got some interviews in my former field (logistics) and now have a job offer. I am in a bit of a quandry whether to continue with my degree of take up the job. Which field , between accounting/ finance and logistics has better opps for the future? Better to take up a job or continue in school? The job is in south NJ and right now I am in Austin, TX.

I can't decide what school to go to, or what to do with my life!!! I feel like I have a good mind, should I use it, which takes hard work, or should I let it slip? HELP!

I am pretty sure that I want to pursue med-school. I am wrestling with the way that some things need to work out. In order to make a couple of decisions I need to know exactly what is required of me to go to med school. I would also like to know any little tidbits of information that would pertain to what med-schools typically prefer in a prospective student. Can anyone help me out?

I want to be one can someone tell me more about them? Like what exactly do they do and what kind of expectations to be one? how many years in college? Is it hard? Will it be hard if you have child and still trying to be one? Will you be completly broke trying to pay for college?

I currently attend an online university. I am very thankful to be there and it is a good school. However, I do wish that I had actual books and a classroom to go to (sometimes). It is very likely that a community college that offers online courses (so I could do both if need be) will be less expensive, which means that my refund from my financial aid would be bigger. This is good because I have two toddlers-every little cent counts! :) Right now we only have one vehicle, that is why I originally signed up with an online school. When I have my own transportation should I go to a traditional campus? What would you do?

Okay, ever since I was 8, I've wanted to be a journalist. I am now 16, and a high school junior. I have a 4.2 weighted gpa from last year when I took one AP Course (I got a 4 on the exam).I'm ranked first in a class of 400. I got about an 1800 on my Practice PSAT (I am going to raise it). This year, I am taking five ap courses (one of them online). I have two honors classes and one required elective. I speak 2 languages (and I am learning Spanish), and I am a writer for the school newspaper with my own column. This is my second year as a key club officer, and I am in NHS. I also plan to join my school's tennis team (hopefully varsIty or JV). I can't drive yet, so that's about as many clubs as I can join. I do, however, plan on participating in a couple of school plays. I went to Andover Academy for a year, but now I am at a public school. Any advice on what I should do or how to make my application stand out (besides having a good essay)?
