I have been researching online degree programs for more than 2 weeks. Thanks to Rip Off Report.com I have been alerted to PCDI, Ashworth College, University of Phoenix and American InterContinental University as being scams or, at the very least, unethical in their practices. I was in the process of enrolling with AIU when I found the rip off website. Fortunately, I had not completed the financial aid process. I had several red flags and the rip off report was the clincher. I now know that had I completed the financial aid, I would have been a lost cause! I have an associate degree (brick and mortar, not online) and work full time. I do not have the opportunity to attend a traditional campus college at this time. I am only trying to improve my quality of life and I am sickened by the number of "colleges" that are preying on hard-working people! Please, if anyone knows of a distance education that is worth the time and money and will actually be accepted by an employer, let me know.

I am leaving home for the first time to go 700 miles away to college. I am very excited, but at the same time very sad and scared ( I have broken down and cried a couple times in private, and i know i will when my parents leave me) and im not the type of person who ever cries, and i am a male. i have thought about staying behind and going to college while living at home at a community college, even though i am only a week away from moving in. I love my parents very much, and i just dont know if i can make it without them. I know even if i do stay for a couple years, it will still be just as hard to leave them. Anyway i dont really have anybody i can talk to about this, because i dont want my parents to know how scared and sad i am...this is kind of embarrassing, but i just need someone to help me. thanks.

i'm planning to transfer to FIDM next year ( not sure yet) but a counselor told me i should complete my carreer at some community college.

i know i will need to pay more money i won't qualify for fee waiver, but excluding the tuition fee, books, materials, etc. , what's the difference between both community and private college? do you recommend going to a private college?

I'll be entering my junior year of high school in about a month. This is the year that our counsellors really drill us about college stuff. I'm most likely going to end up majoring in either music theory & composition, or music education. Can anyone reccomend universities/colleges that have good music programs? I don't care where it is; I kind of want to go to school out of state anyway. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great.
