It depends how many classes that is, each college's credit hours are different. You shouldn't take more than 4 classes in your first semester. Most colleges won't even let you take more than 4 classes your first year, then after that you're allowed to take up to 5 (or 6 with the Dean's permission).

I took 17 credits my first semester. That was four 4-credit classes and 1 "orientation" type class (which sucked but only lasted the first 10 weeks). But I still had time to work 10-12 hours a week, go to all my meals on my meal plan and get all my homework done. It was just a little tight sometimes. Then my second year I started taking 20 credits (five 4-credit courses) and it's not that bad. It just sucks when you have 5 papers due the same week. I still got everything done ok and I'm keeping up a 3.74 GPA!

If it FEELS too overwhelming, then cut down. Wait until you're accustomed to college classes and college-level work before loading up too much. But if you're a pretty good student and made it through High School pretty easily, then you should be just fine with 4 classes, but I know a couple people that had to cut back to 3 classes for the first semester.

Good luck!!! Make the most of it! College is supposed to be the best years of your life! If you ever need any help, see your academic advisor! He/She/They will become your best friend when it comes to planning courses and figureing out your schedule for the 2-4 years you're there! Don't ever be afraid to go see them!

human beings lately are notorious pvssies. for most folk, i ought to represent no better than 3 instructions at a time. once you've an IQ larger than your shoe length, you could take significantly better. I many times took 24 credit hours in keeping with semester in college and handed with a 4.0, and nonetheless had time to slack off. Even better if you may do "flex" instructions that are merely a month or so long, and do 24 hours each and each and every time. you'll graduate in a 12 months.

Depends how aggressive you want to be and the difficulty of the classes. Go for 15 or 16 counting labs. That would be 4 3-hour courses and a 4-hour science class including lab. Don't know about PE anymore. Used to count 1 hour regardless of time spent doing whatever.

The usual amount of credits taken in normally 12, but if you are a good student and feel you can handle 17 credits, go for it. Just keep in mind if you have a full time job also and other issues in your life, (eg,,,,significant other, children, a social life, ect) you have to make sure you can either fit those in, or sacrafice them for your schooling!

It depends on the college, labs, etc.
I took 21 and was fine, one lab, one night class (for a trip to London).
Don't take too much or you will be overwhelmed, but don't take too little so you are bored.

it depends if you can handle it, and if you work then I would not recommend. For each class allow two hours of study time.
