This is unfair considering they do not conribute towards my education at all or financially in any way. I have lived on my own since I was 16. I talked to the financial aid department and they told me it was a "moral" law for parents to pay for undergrad. I am having a lot of difficulty figuring out how to pay for school. PLEASE HELP.

I am going to be a high school senior next year in iowa, I am trying to think of how to pay for college, I just got a job at ups which I plan on working until college making about $10,000 during that time period. What else do I need to do to make sure I can pay for college either through scholarships or my own money-making ways. Are there any tricks to saving money like the money I will make at UPS and create a lot of interest in that short of time? All help is very much appreciated. I am really worried about my future.

I have been working hard completing my education at Roosevelt University and then I thought that I would have a better chance to finish school earlier at Depaul University. The financial aid package was not generous but a financial aid counselor told me I could ask the financial aid administrator to review my file. Nothing happened still and the school is giving me the run around over and over again and it seems like they could not care less if I succeed or not. I have since then decided to go back to Roosevelt but I feel that it is not just how the world works to shut doors of opportunity to those who want to succeed and work hard to gain accomplishments but can not because of financial setbacks (being underemployed is my problem) I don't want this to damage my credit because all I want to do is finish what I started and receive my degree in Political Science.

I'm a inspirational speaker, and I speak to many students who grew in the USA, but are not 'official'. They have trouble going to college, because they cannot get federal student loans. What other options do they have?

I have good credit, probably around 750, have a $14,000 car loan, no mortgage, and already have $35,000 in student loans. I'm looking to borrow the maximum $18,500 from the federal government, and another $15,000 from a private company. What interest rate should I accept?

FinAidGrrl, I tried emailing you but it said your address isn't verified. Thank you so much for your previous answer! I'd be extremely grateful if you could help me with the last part of my dilemma. I'm currently an English major, due to graduate by Fall '07, but my dream was always to earn a bachelor's in Public Relations. At my school, you have to apply to be accepted for a PR major; the PR program takes at least 2 years to finish. In my letter of appeal, should I say 1) that I'm planning on applying to PR and changing my major or 2) I'm getting my first B.A. in English and that I'm going for PR as a second B.A. or 3) should I only say I'm going for an English B.A. and not mention PR, until I have to appeal when I get accepted into PR? They only allow one change of major per student or if I pursue PR for my second B.A., I have to appeal again. Given my circumstances, would a change of major result in a rejected appeal? Any thoughts on what I should do to get my PR degree?
