Financial Aid

It has been 20 yrs. ago when I decided to interrupt my studies because, one of my daughters needed me to take care of her daughter so, she could keep on going to college to become a teacher. Don't get me wrong I don't regret saying yes because I love all my grandchildren a lot. But, now I want to finish my education,to prove to myself that I am capable of getting my degree. I am 64 yrs. old but I still have that inspiration to go on with my dreams. I would like to know where I can apply for financial aid.

I am 24 with 2 kids and a wife. I live in Michigan. My local community college offers a criminal justice program. I can't afford to pay $120 a credit hour plus books. If I can get my college paid for, do I have to be a full-time student. I have a full-time day job so I would have to take night courses.

I am planning to do MBA soon. The tuition fee for the college is around $60K total . If I have around 10K in savings account. what is a better way to pay for fee.

1. to take a full loan or
2. to pay some with this saving and take rest as loan

and in both cases can I get the required amount as loan..??

what are the terms and conditions I would be required to fulfill to get the loan.

and do I need to show that I have $60k as a backup in bank accounts (mine / any relatives)in case I wouldn't be able to payback.

I think that I should keep the 10K safe aside for some other unforeseen purposes. Is it fine..
what do you think.

Thanx in advance for sharing ur knowledge.

I tried taking out federal stafford student loans for the upcoming fall semester. I sent in my request in late May to secure the interest rates prior to the July 1st increase. I was told that my interest rate would be at the increased 6.8% fixed rate because "my loans were disbursed no earlier than 10 days before my program starts."

What rule is this and is there any way to work around it so I could get the 5.3% rate, after all it is not July 1st yet?

Hey guys, I need a huge student loan. I don't even think this is possible for undergraduates. I need $60,000 for all 4 years. Is this possible? If so...what if I have no credit history?

My friend told me that loans are canceled only if the person dies a natural death and not when they take their own life. Is this true?

NPR had Dr. Vedder and several conversants on the other night. Each lambasted the other for a 'too radical' solution.

guys i got GMAT 740 (AWA 5.0). i'm an environmental engr (from India) 25 yrs old with 3.5 yrs exp now. i enjoy my technical (consulting) line but i guess MBA is imp for professional growth n money.
here in India every tom, dick n harry's got n MBA. n they r better paid .... but i really dont wanna leave my present line

besides this, the cost of MBA (quality course 1 yr duration mostly outside India) is too high and schols are difficult.
and , i always lose out on the Interviews during the selection process of MBA in whatever I have applied as yet.

I m not sure what do i go for to move up in my career ...

I am a college student with a good GPA that needs monetary help to complete my college degree. If I stop, and try to return to college later, I will more than likely not finish my degree. My major is Business Admin. with a concentration on Operations management and I am a Junior within a few months of becoming a Senior in college. I have exhausted all of my financial aid options and can't afford to get anymore loans. I will be the only one in my family with a college degree if this works out. I have feverishly researched options on the net and have found nothing concrete. My GPA is 3.0, I am a female who is an undergraduate. I would appreciate any and all information that you could extend to me.

awaiting your reply,

L. Jones

I am a freshman this year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I was planning on living at home and going to school however my parents just bought a house more then an hour away and living at home is no longer an option. When I applied for Financial Aid based on my parents income I did not qualify for any grants but did get a loan, i'm not sure which for about $1,300 a semester. My parents told me they would pay for my tuition and books (my tuition is all ready at half cost because of a scholarship). I am now in need of $7,500 for a dorm and meal ticket so I can live on campus, I am only 17 so I need a cosigner on a student loan and my parents won't cosign using the excuse that they have too many loans with the debt/owe ratio. Where can I go and what can I do?
