Financial Aid

[Selected]: All categories Education & Reference Financial Aid

I'd received financial aid for 2 years before, but now, my school considers me ineligible for fin aid because I didn't fulfill the satisfactory academic progress policy. I was taking 12 units instead of the mandatory 16 units. I'm currently writing a letter of appeal, detailing why.

I had transferred into my current school with a 3.7 GPA. During my first year, I was involved in an extremely detrimental relationship with someone who was emotionally abusive and resulted in me having to deal with an abortion by myself. Consequently, I lost my focus in school, withdrew from 2 classes, recieved bad grades and my GPA dropped drastically within one year. Since then, I've removed him from my life and I've been working hard to regain my former GPA, earning A's & B's.

The experience was an extremely personal and painful one for me and I feel that I should include it in my letter of appeal, but I'm not sure how to or if it's appropriate. Please help!

I was recently informed that I have to write a letter of appeal to receive financial aid. I was getting it before, but I had a death in my family along with other personal issues that caused me to sink into a deep depression. If I write the letter and include a death certificate, will they also require me to provide a doctors statement proving my depression? The thing is, I didn't see a doctor...I just want my letter to be approved. Any suggestions?

I have recently asked for a letter of exemption from the Selective services as I was in H1-B Status when I entered the country and stayed in that status till age of 30. But they came back to me asking for my first I-94 when I first entered the country. I tried to explain to them that that1-94 card is taken back at the airport when you go out again, but they are insisting that I have to somehow provide that. They say that copy my H1-B visa somehow doesn't prove the fact that I was in H1-B status till '00.
To me it sounds outrageous. Am I missing something here? Did anyone experience the same problem. Is there a way to get the document that can satisfy them?
