College costs are based on ability to pay in a couple ways. She will have to fill out the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid first and the government will then tell her what her "expected family contribution" will be. This is based on income, etc. If the EFC is too much for her to pay, she can contact the school who will help her. She may be able to fill out a financial aid revision form (which gives her the chance to better explain her financial situation) and he will get additional aid. Her son can also apply for grants and scholarships. His high school counselor should be able to help him fill out forms to get these.

pale grant is a major grant this handed to most everyone as long as they keep their grade point average up. In Georgia we have the Hope grant, it is very benificial & whatever it doesn't cover Pale does. The best thing to do is go to the college and ask to speak with the person over financial aid (all schools have it) Then they will have you fill out the applications & prove income for where ever the student is staying now. They will work with you no matter this situation. They will be able to tell you the correct information and get you on the right track. There are different types of Aid for every state, so that would be your best route to take. Good luck with it & hope it comes out okay. Just make sure you let them know that the father isn't living & the mother has limited income from the start.

Financial aid is provided according to the college candidate grades.
You can also go to the school in which the kid whishes to study. Must of the schools have financial aid offices, even community colleges.
