I'm a inspirational speaker, and I speak to many students who grew in the USA, but are not 'official'. They have trouble going to college, because they cannot get federal student loans. What other options do they have?

They can try for scholarships, but that is going to be rough. Many undocumented/illegals do not want to call attention to themselves because they are afraid of getting deported. They are not eligible for any federal money. They may or may not be eligible for in-state tuition rates at colleges. Sometimes the wording on an application asks to prove residency in the state to get in-state rates, but they don't always ask if they can prove national residency.

I encourage them to seek citizenship. That would make things easier. Some companies offer scholarships to noncitizens/aliens. It depends on that particlar companies policies.

They can go back to where they came from and immigrate legally. I know that sounds cold but one of my parents immigrated legally and I have other relatives who would love to come here but will NOT do so illegally. I have little sympathy for those who stole that opportunity by sneaking in and now want me to feel sorry for them because they have difficulty taking advantage of the colleges and universities supported in part by my tax dollars. You won't get any sympathy tears from my corner.
