Just about any type of financial aid (federal, state, institutional, private) can be used to cover tuition AND childcare and living expenses.
Essentially, schools are allowed to offer Financial Aid up to the amount of a student's "Cost of Attendance" (COA) which is a pre-set specific "budget-like" list of costs established by the Financial Aid Office. In this "Cost of Attendance," a school can include not only tuition but ALSO...
* housing
* books & supplies
* transportation
* a "reasonable allowance" for personal costs (incl. a computer), and
* dependent care (!)
Of course, not all schools are willing to allow a student to include *all* of these costs in their "Cost of Attendances." So once you know where you're going, talk to the financial aid office to find out what they are willing to include. They will usually allow you to request additions to your COA so that you can obtain financial aid for more than just your billable charges. After your aid is credited to your student account, your school will refund you any "excess." You can then use this excess to help fund your childcare costs.
Now, if you are committed to your higher education (which I'm sure you are), you will probably need to utilize both the federal grant aid (that you will probably receive as a 1st time student & single mom) as well as some federal loans.

I just asked if 11,000 dollars for financial aid is too much. Apply for you FAFSA, and apply early for your school year. Like, if you wanted to start this fall, you should have applied in February. The state might help with child-care, depending on your income. And don't let anyone ever give you crap for getting state help to go to school! I'm a single mom too. You can do it, you just have to find your resources.

Check with the college and the financial aid office. Make sure you fill out your FAFSA if you are in the US http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
You will need a support team. parents? Aunts? Friends?
It's not going to be easy, but it is do-able. Good luck.
