Hello, I'm a foreigner, got my degree here in the uk, i'm doing my MSc and i've been accepted to do a PhD at Goldsmiths, as i havent got the money i'm asking:

How can I (a foreigner student) get a loan?

by law, i'm not resident in the uk so i can't apply for any goverment sponsored aid.

it can be a fees (foreigner = 12k/year) only loan paid directly to the college.

Although my parents own a house, it's located in my home country (in south america).

I don't have a proper income...

Any advice is welcomed

Im 22 and have been out of college for over 1 year. My parents provide no financial assistance; yet the government and school won't provide me with aid because of my parents income. The estimated family contribution is too high. I work monday-friday 9-6 and cant make ends meet as is. I have terrible credit and no shot at school loans or grants. I have wanted to finish school and i am in my junior year. Because i was working 3 jobs to pay for school my grades dropped tremendously and i was put on academic probation. I have the determination and drive to make something of myself, just cant find a way to afford living and going to school. I am nobody special- i have no family involved in organizations who provide scholarships & my grades arent good enough to be awarded. I was recently accepted to the university i wanted to attend & am so excited but i dont know how i will afford it. Can anybody give me any advice? I appreciate any help on my problem. Just cant find a way to succeeding:(

I have heard of a program and do not racall the name of it... but it allows a person to get a student loan to pursue a degree in the educational feild and if that person agrees to work with int ht state of GA for a certain amout of time then it does not have to be repaid and is essentially written off for time served...Does this program still exist and where can I get info on it?

i'm getting awarded $2,025 in financial aid, and my mom is always asking me "when is your check coming," and "you know you owe me $600," and yes, she has paid for my books which all equaled about $150, plus my bus passes which were about $200, but that's all. That doesn't equal $600 dollars! I don't have a job right now, and I really need money, and my mom is a teacher with a masters and makes a whole lot of money. Do you think it is fair that she is trying to take most of my money? I am not even excited about getting the check in the mail, b/c a) she is probably looking for it, and b) she is going to try to take all of it, or find some way for me to spend it on something stupid so I'll be broke. What should I do?

If i get accepted to USC as a transfer student for next fall, i'll need to apply for financial aid. without scholarships, how much do you think it will cover? my grades are pretty good: all A's and one B. my parents said they can only afford to pay 20 of the $50,000 tuition(that includes room/board, books, food, and other fees). so that means i need financial aid to cover the other $30,000. is that possible? my parents dont make too much money, and i have a job, but its an internship, so i dont get paid. so if i apply for financial aid and fafsa, how much do you think it will cover?? thanks!

Here's the deal...my bf's mom wants him to go to the college she wants him to go and won't let him go where he wants to go. He wants to move out and go where he wants. Is it very possible to do this by using college loans only, while attending full time with a part time job? He fears his mom will enroll him in the college of her choice, but he intends to enroll in the college of his choice, what is there to do?

Don't get me wrong. I know that blacks still face racial discrimination in many areas, and I think it's wrong. However, blacks have access to grants, loans, and scholarships just like whites do, so is it really necessary to have a scholarship fund that's based on race?

My daughter has been doing well in school. She had all a's and b's until last year. In her tenth grade year she got a C in math. She has taken high honor classes since junior high, and is now in two advance placement classes. She is in eleventh grade. All her life I have encouraged her if she did well she would be able to get scholarships, maybe even a full scholarship. I think the C took care of that she will no longer qualify for the national honor society. (I think) I am not considered low income by the goverment standards. I am disabled and my husband is a plumber. I have three other children. I just have not saved enough, although I have tried. My daughter is really wanting a law degree. She wanted to go to Michigan State. We live in New York. Any Idea how to achieve this goal? I know there are loans and grants available. How do I find these and How do I go about applying and know which ones to apply for. My daughter is about to give up her goal. She knows we dont have the money.

Can I get my college loan interest back?
I am a recent college graduate living in New York State, making 27k a year. I currently have consolidated college loan payments that I am paying (unfortunately only paying the minimum for now) each month. When tax time comes around, is it true that I can get back the interest that I paid in the previous year on my college loan? How do I go about doing so if this is true? Thanks!

I really, really want to study abroad in africa, but the trip is $6000 and I don't think my parents are up for paying that much money by themselves. What is a good kind of job that a college kid can get to make a lot of money fast?

Do you think groups like Kiwanis might donate me some money (sponsor me) if I promise to give them a lecture about my trip when I get back?

I currently go to a community college but i'm aiming at going to a great private university or UCLA.

Both will cost me a lot of money but the private being the most.

My parents have about $5000 they can give me a year.
I just applied for fafsa and my family contribution is about 7k.

My question is will the rest be covered??

For example 40k-7 k = 33k

How much aid do you think i can get?

I have my EFC number, should i take it to the college i want to go to in 2 years and ask them?

thnx

I'm taking this class with a professor that is unbelievable.

He get's annoyed when someone asks him questions after he "explains" (he doesn't do that very well, he assumes we already know what he's explaining and goes by very fast) something, and he's very rude to us. He treats us like if we were inferior to him. He doesn't seem to like what he's doing and as a consequence we're all failing. Most of my classmates quit showing up.

I'm mostly an A student and my current average on his class is 69. I doubt I can raise it to a B, so I'm considering on withdrawing it with a "W" but would that affect my financial aid?

I would have to re-take that class sometime anyways.
What would be better?
To get a C and the re-take the class, or to withdraw with a W?

Thanks!
