I didn't have any money to go to college. My mother is disabled and we were very very poor. I applied to the colleges I wanted to go, but if you're in the states, then the home state you live in will most likely give you the biggest scholarships and loans. Also, apply, apply, apply! Apply to every and any scholarship you come across that could remotely fit to you and your major. Also, do FAFSA, the federal stuff...and some states have local student associations that help you get into and through college. Sign up on fastweb.com. They are very helpful and list a ton of scholarships. Check with the college you want to go to too. They will have a list of scholarships that are up for grabs and if you get accepted you can put in your essays and such. Also, try to get the best grades that you can, do extra activities outside of school be it sports or ptsa or things like that. Community service looks good too.

Start with the FAFSA answer, then check out SallieMae.com for information on student loans available. A lot of schools don't give out information on all available loans. If you are serious about going to college, start here and also work with the financial aid department at the college you are considering.

I suggest you first make an appointment with an advisor at the school that you would like to attend. Tell them your situation and ask them what kinda aid do are you eligible for. Then look for scholarship websites. Try www. fastweb.com. My aunt received a scholarship from there just for being left-handed. And if your in high school talk to your guidance counselor. They are always willing to help. I hope this helps you. Good Luck on your new venture in life.
