My name is Steven Sills. I am an American who teaches English in Bangkok Thailand. I graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and went on learning toward my Master's Degree in English. I even did an early creative writing thesis before my coursework was completed; however I withdrew when a book of my poetry was published by Towson State University and I needed to get it revised. My dream, despite my low earnings, is to get a Master's Degree in English or American literature. If you can at all give me some suggestions on how I might accomplish this or how I, a poor man living in a foreign country but one whose book is in Princeton and Yale academic libraries and whose other manuscripts are part of the digital archive at the university of Pennsylvania

I did not receive my Degree, nor certificate, graduation was cancelled, I had spent 2 years of education, and no job placement when promised. All I had received was my transcripts. Plus my credits is not transferrable to other colleges. What should I do, I don't even have a job yet.

I have a friend that wants to know if he can get more than one "disability grant". I didn't even know such things existed, but he says they do.

He has three seperate disabilities:

(1. Learning disability 2. Hearing 3. Vision)

He is looking for any grant to help with college, even if it only cuts off a few hundred.

Thanks!

I'm an Asian-American majoring in Dental Hygiene at a public university and I'm in my third year. I tried asking for a minority scholarship, but they said I have to be on welfare in order to receive it. I was wondering if there were any scholarships available where your parent's income doesn't matter. Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

I know that you are supposed to fill out your application or online application for FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1 for fall freshman college students. Will they post the new application in 2006, or do you have to wait until after Jan. 2007?
Thanks for your help?

I am 1/4 Cherokee but mygrandmom hid out in the north georgia/tenn hills and avoided the Trail of Tears...so there was no official record of my grandmom (squaw) except her marriage certificate/bible.
.....I have friends that get $$ thrown at them because they had a "Hispanic" grandparent.. with a "B"ave they can get GRANT $$ as a "Hispanic scholar". Do they have to have official records or live on a reservation???
..I could sure use tuition help as a minority rather than a white kid who graduated with a 4.0 ave and some credits from dual credit courses and "5"s on AP tests..My two brothers also scape by in college.. it doesnt seem fair!

I have two children, 9 and 11, whom I am planning to put through college. I am debating whether to put money into a 529 investment fund or putting it into a Roth IRA and pulling out the money needed to pay for their college when the time comes.

What I would rather do is pay for most of their college expenses by having them get student loans. I would be able to keep my money in a compounding interest account and make money against the interest rate of the student loan. I could then pay their loans off over five years after they graduate. This would not only net me more interest earned, but would also establish their credit for when they need to acquire more serious loans such as a new car loan or mortgage.

One of the reasons that I am leary of putting money into 529 (which I know would work better than a Roth IRA) is that they will tally that in when putting together a student loan package. As far as I know, retirement accounts cannot be touched.

I would deeply appreciate any knowledge that can be supplied to me. I quit my Master's degree program when a book of my poetry was accepted for publication through a university press. The book had been my early creative writing thesis. I would like to find a means of rectifying my errors and returning to my studies. Although American I don't think I can get student loans but if there are scholarships, grants, or rather cheap online classes for an internationally recognized degree this information would mean a lot to me.
