I recently received an email from NYU stating that any NYC who applies has their fee waivered. Is this really true. Personally I'd rather not have $65 on the line.
Actual email:
Dear <>:
It is impossible to envision New York University without New York City.
Probably no college or university is more closely identified with its
home town than is NYU.
But, we have a problem. Over the past two decades or so, we have
experienced a small, but steady, decrease in the portion of our freshman
class from New York City. We know that many of our students are drawn
from across the country and across the globe in large measure by the
chance to experience New York City as NYU students, and we believe that a
good part of that experience includes actually being around New Yorkers
not only on the sidewalks and public parks, but in classes, in residence
halls, and on athletic teams and student clubs. New Yorkers like you!
