Like "least said, soonest mended." You can't say less than nothing. But if your car breaks down and you say nothing, it will never be mended.

BAD advice. REALLY bad advice. It's easier for someone to stab you in the back when they're close than it is when they are far, far away.

Your quoted saying refers to knowing when to keep your mouth shut and has nothing to do with mending physical things other than friendships/relationships etc....in other word...when you are in a hole stop digging...you will have less to regret or explain later..

There are two familiar sayings,

      "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

and

     "Out of sight, out of mind."

The trouble is, they contradict each other, so one or both must be wrong.

lol i was always told "don`t poke the fire or you will wet the bed" i never did wet the bed ! Another one again about wetting the bed was not to pick dandelions or you will wet the bed ,again i never did lol
