This is from Chapter 5, Exercise 5-3, #15 of Fundamentals of Technical Mathematics (2nd edition): Greg and his wife together had an unpaid balance of $500 on their credit cards for one month. The company that issued Greg's credit card charges interest of 2% a month on the unpaid balance; his wife's charges are 1.5% a month. If the total finance charge for both was $9.00, how much was each unpaid balance?

My teacher said that no one is going to fail the first exam because he is adding a curve. I emailed him for my score and he replied "your grade is a 102 without the curve". Does this mean that I get higher then a 102 or lower. I know he likes Gauss alot if that helps.

Even though I find that I am working hard I cant seem to perform well. It seems that others who work less and party more are doing better than me. I have never been in a situation where i work so hard and dont even know if I will pass. Should I go to Ohio state considering the fact that the engineering program in ohio state is much easier and that the average gpa of students coming in is not as high as michigan?

I'm talking minimum SAT scores (combined math, critical reading, and writing), minimum GPA, extracurriculars, etc? I know they accept like 67-70% of applicants and even though i'm an above average student, my SAT scores aren't extremely high because for one i'm not the best in math and also i'm not good at taking standardized tests.

Anyway, i'm really stressed out about this even though everyone keeps telling me i'll get in no problem (not 10% though).

I just started student teaching high school pre-algebra. There is one group of kids who work really hard but take a lot longer to do warmups, examples, and assignments so its really hard to move on and assign more work but its hard for the other kids to sit there with nothing to do. What to do what to do... Suggestions? PS the kids take longer because its hard for them, NOT because they are goofing off.
