Can you please tell me the rules of punctution and capitalization of dialouge?
Which one is right?
"I thought you really liked ham." she said. I nodded.
OR
"I thought you really liked ham," she said. I nodded.

For split qoutation, which one is right?
"My sore throat is killing me," said Betty. "I don't know what I should do."
OR
"My sore throat is killing me." said Betty, "I don't know what I should do."
OR
"My sore throat is killing me." said Betty. "I don't know what I should do."
For this one which is right?
"I tried that," replied Betty, " but it didn't work."
OR
"I tried that." replied Betty. " but it didn't work."
OR
"I tried that," replied Betty. " but it didn't work."

Please give me more rules and examples for direct and split quotation. Thank you sooooo much for your help.

First quotation: 2nd one.

Split quotation: 1st one.

Last quotation: 1st one.

Rules: basically a quote should be affiliated or related to whom is stating that quote, and therefore you need a comma instead of a period after the quote (but before the quotation mark).

Correct:
"I thought you really liked ham," she said.
"My sore throat is killing me," said Betty. "I don't know what I should do."
"I tried that, " replied Betty. "But, it didn't work."

Always use a comma after the quote, then he/she/they said.
On the last one, I would write it this way...
"I tried that, but it didn't work," replied Betty.

second one is right
there should be no puntucation after betty and a comma after me
same for the third one
