My son is in second grade and his teacher stated that he is writing and reading below grade average. She stated that he seems to have gone from Kindergarden to Second grade without learning anything in first. I'm a single parent and I cannot afford a tutoring service like Sylvan, is there something I can do better?

Do colleges decide on whether to accept you or not based on your major? For example, if I apply as an International Business major, will they look more closely at my math class scores?

Also, if it would be better to apply as Undeclared, what would I put for Undeclared for business, communications?

I got an F in this class. My dad who was my last family member died when I was taking this class.

class and I'm afraid that I cannot recommend a retroactive
withdrawal. You attended class regularly and completed all of the

I'm a Freshmen in high school. From day one I complained to my counselor almost everyday about my locker being able to open without a combination. They said they would get it fixed right away, but we have been in school for 7 weeks already! Teachers won't allow you to come in class with a bookbag so I had to leave most of my books in my locker. Today, someone broke into my locker (because the lock doesn't work) and took EVERYTHING. Now the school says I owe them over $300 in textbooks even though I told them the books were stolen and I never got a new locker.

ok here is the thing my son just turned 17 and he has always done little quirky things and family would always coment about them like he will repeat things until he get your attention he has a bad habit of spitting all the time he doesnt like to be hugged and when you ask for a hug he acts like you are asking him to something horrible! he also freaks out if you touch his face or touch him anywhere near his mouth. i was pointing at something on his cheek one time and acidently poked his lip he freaked out on me . i knew that he might be a little different but if he has autism how do i find out forsure is there some kind of test plus he go's to school everyday but he is in special ed and he will not graduate because he has a learning disability and they say he will finish high school and get a certificated but not a diploma! i am really concerned for him cus he is 17 and what will become of him when he is an adult!

I am a college senior majoring in U.S. History, and I am having trouble in U.S. History class I'm taking now. I have a 3.96 GPA and will be graduating in the Spring, and I'm probably on track to get a B in my troubled course. If I replace the class in Spring, I can pretty much guarantee an A, and will still graduate on time. Should I drop the class and lower my GPA or take the surefire A in the spring with a W on my transcript?

I completed a student loan application and was credit approved, they said they just need to get some information from my school. Well its been over 2 weeks and the application is still incomplete and i need the money now so i can pay for my dorm or be forced to move out. Does anyone know how long this usually takes?
P.S Yes i have heard the bad things about sallie mae.. i wouldn't have applied for this loan from them if i didn't have to.. so please spare me the "don't go with sallie mae" talk.

I go to a christian school. A kid at my school admitted to being suicidal and at one point homicidal, during a retreat chapel, and got kicked out of school.
He never did anything to anybody, and is fine now. He's been seeing a psychiatrist for a few years now, and is better. He's the sweetest person I know.
People at school want him back, but we don't know how to do it. We tried talking to the superintendant, but he just won't listen! We've been praying about it, and today we were having people sign a petition, but I don't know if that will work.
He's been going to my school since 1st grade, and is now a senior. Everyone loves him to death. He's such a good guy. He was origionally only put on a one-week suspension period where he had to go to the shrink, but was supposed to come back after that. Then they decided to kick him out.
I go to a private school, and don't know how decisions like this are made at private schools, but I'd like ANYONES insights into how to fix this.
