I became a teacher because:
1. I always loved school and most of my teachers.
2. I needed to fulfill my childhood dream.
3. I wanted to make a difference in a child's life.

I'm so glad I became one. I love my job!

1. The vacation package, because I'm a selfish sonofa.
2. My parents were teachers, most adults I knew were teachers, my best friends' parents were teachers... I've grown up around them, and I really can't imagine life outside of a school.
3. I love my subject, and want to be able to keep on learning.
4. It's the only place I'll ever get to direct.

I always loved reading and trying to figure things out. Over summer vacation, my 10th grade English teacher suggested I read "Crime and Punishment." I was a child of the later 60's, and became involved in anti-war activities while I attended community college. I married a young Marine veteran (a forward observer who had epilepsy and two yrs later drowned in our bathtub--VA was no help). After his death, I realized that perhaps a better way to change the world would be to work within the "system" rather than outside of it. I studied secondary ed with and English focus, taught one yr of high school, went back for my Masters, and taught over 15 yrs in both university and community college...my rough estimate is I had contact with well over 5,000 students...even if I only reached 1% of them with a message of love, harmony, respect, I did well.

I liked knowing that I would have the weekends, holidays and the summer off. A definite plus for raising a family.
I also like being in charge of my pay cheque. It is up to me to increase my pay scale by taking additional courses.
I love working with kids! Although, it is very tiring and there is a lot of extra work that most people don't take into consideration. I do love it though!

not gonna lie... a big reason was the vacation time. But a bigger reason was that i had very inspirational teachers when i was growing up who really took the time to care and take and interest in what i was doing. I want to give that feeling to other people
