Hello!!! This year I'm a senior in high school and I'm really worried about getting in to the university I want. Ever since I began my college search I knew that I wanted to go to Rice University here in Houston, TX. From what I've heard this school is EXTREMELY selective. I'm not the smartest kid in school neither am I in top ten percent or am I in any advanced classes... well except for this year I am in a few. I do pretty good on my on level classes. So I'm probably a little bit above average. Also I've been in a few extra curricular activities and work... Now my only hope are my SAT scores!!! I'm really worried because I have high hopes of getting accepted and so does my family and friends and I just dont want to disappoint them! Now you can see why I'm worried! So my question is.... Is Rice as selective as they say? Do I even have a chance?

Hi

I'm reading into Sylvia Plath's "Morning Song" poem, and was just wanting to know the deeper meaning of the line:

"A far sea moves in my ear"

also

"The window square - Whitens and swallows its dull stars"

Have you read this poem? Do you mind giving me your thoughts? Thanks~

I was wondering if any college students or anyone in general has any good topics for a 7-10 page research paper? I haven't done a research paper since maybe junior high and I'm 20 yrs old so its been awhile. I'm not asking anyone to do my paper, I just have a major block. I thought about abortions but I don't want to look at pictures. Sad but true. I appreciate the suggestions!

I've just recently started my major in finance and so far i've been doing quite well in all my classes. However, after some thought I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps this isn't the right field for me. I really want to achieve my goal of getting the degree but my biggest fear is being "trapped" into a certain field. Will the finance degree serve any use at all to me if I were to decide to pursue a non-business/corporate career? Or would it just be a complete waste?

But I'm just wondering because my girl just blows up when I say the wrong thing.

Ever since 6th grade, I've been stuttering on the letter S. For example, Imagine a classroom and we're reading out of the textbook. The teacher calls on students every paragraph or so. My nervousness get's really high and my heart starts beating fast. When I'm called on, I read the paragraph, and sometimes I stutter on words that begin with an S, like "some, such, sing, something, solo, star, symphony, special" etc. I usually stutter when the S word begins a new sentence. Sometimes I intentionally just drop my pencil and grab it, then skip the S word or replace it like I misread it, even though I didn't. So, is there anyway to help me stop stuttering those S's? Please help :) By the way, I'm gonna be a freshman. First day of school TOMORROW :( I'm so excited/nervous I can't sleep, haha.

'Come right into my parlour,' said
The spider to the fly,
'And answer one small question, please,
Unless you want to die.
I've eaten scores of flies, of course,
But tell me if you dare:
If females had two more, and males
But half their present share,
How many flies like that, d'you think,
I really would require,
To give me twenty-eight fly legs,
The number I desire?'
