I WANT AND NEED A CELL PHONE cause im in middle school and theres a lot of after school activities and stuff that if i decide to do i need a cell. also in middle school my sisters locker was jammed and she missed the bus and she had no way of getting home but she walked to the nearest phone. theres lots more resons why i need one but my parents still think i dont need one at this age even if i payed for it so what i need is some serious HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in case of emergencies would be the best thing. cell phone have saved the lives of many young kids. give them examples of the scenerios you listed in your question. it definitely does help.

Well, I just bought my 10 year old niece a cheap, by-the-minute tracfone because i'm always worried about her safety, plus she just wanted one, and she is mature enough for a phone now. she is going to school in a totally different town from ours, with her younger brother and younger sister, so i figured if anything, she would need it just in case she, her brother or her sister missed the bus, if there was any problem with any (i know it sounds weird for an elementary school, but they are going to school in the town i live in now, not the hometown they are from, and it is pretty racist) racist comments, problems on the 30-40 minute bus ride to or from school, or anything else that may come up.

Also, prepaid phones, like Tracfones, are not too expensive, $20 for the cheapest, plainest phone, and $10 for 30 minutes of talk time, is what i have found for Trista's phone.

Tell your parents you are worried about your safety, and you will have to list some of the scenarios that you have just mentioned. If you have shown them that you are mature enough for a phone, and that you don't just want it for superficial reasons, like talking up a storm with your best friend, i think they should come around to your point of view.

Just don't abuse the power you get from it, by getting it taken away at school, or even letting anyone know you have it, really. I gave Trista a list of specific guidelines that acted as sort of a contract. I just had her read through them. I listed "do not use for anything else but an emergency situation, or one in which you need to contact your mom or dad to tell them where you are, or what you are doing," as just one of the requirements, and I made sure she understood that I was serious about them, and that was it. I don't think there should be any problem, and if it saves some time and grief to know that it is in her posession, then why not...

Need I say more. This is not 1957 this is 2007 and lot of things have changed out there.
If my kids weren'g grown I would not let them walk to the end of the block without a cell phone or pistol or something to defend themselves with now days!

You can point that if you are walking home from your friends or the store and you notice a suspicious person or a suspicious car, you can call them and tell them.

And even if your nothing else you can get out your cell phone and make it look like you are talking to someone on it. And if said suspicious person does get bold enough to confront you and ask you who you are talking to you can tell them your mother or father.

Be sure to point out to them, even if you live in a small town with no 911 you still have GPS which is Nation wide. And you can put your local police and fire department on speed dail as well in case of an emegency.

As added insurance you might get them to watch A.M.W. with you. That is Amreica's Most Wanted. Maybe that will help.

If nothing else.! Talk to them about a prepaid cell phone.! Yeah I know it is going to restrict your talking to your friends. But you can point out to them it will teach you how to watch how much you talk on your Cell Phone.

I recommend Cingular, "well now ATT&T's," Go Phones they are reasonably priced and you can get one which has a camera as well.
They have two plans if I recall correctly. One is a 25 cents a minute plan.
The other one is 10 cents a minute plus a $1.00 each day you use it.
The good thing about ATT&T is their minutes carry over you don't lose them.
Their new cell phones are also GPS Phones which is a good feature since as long as your cell phone is on the police will be able to find you Get a fix on your phone.
Their phones also have 911 which is also tied in with GPS so if you have to call 911 they can track your location. i.e. where you were at when you called.
Also they have voice mail and text messaging as well as e-mail.
Text messaging and voice mail. The two things your mother will like you having so she can get in touch with you and have you call her back if she needs you to do something or pick up something for her.

But the main feature is still your personal safety and their peace of mind.
That makes no difference if you live in a small town or big city now days.

I know in this day and age if I had kids still at home, they would not walk out the door with a cell, which has GPS and 911.
In fact my daughter is grown and married, and I still do not like the fact of her leaving her cell phone at the house when going somewhere..

tell them you want one in case you have to stay after school and also tell them that if you are out with friends it gives you a way to call home and let them know what is going on or if you ever need a ride or help. also they can call you and bug you about coming home and stuff anytime they want.

This is a horrible suggestion for someone your age but.......
Stay out late or don't show up at your regular time for a long period of time and when they demand to know where you were or why you're late explain to them that you could've avoided the problem if you could have called them. That should do it.
