I'd appreciate an honest assessment of my chances at getting into a good PhD program. I have a BBA (double major in marketing and communication arts) from a Big 10 university and graduated with a fairly average GPA. I spent a year in corporate marketing before moving overseas to Hong Kong. I spent the next 5+ years working as a researcher (and later project manager) for a university-affiliated business policy research institute. I've worked on published research and media projects involving prominent Asian corporations.

During this time, I was considering a move into business/financial journalism and completed a part-time Master's in Journalism at a good Asian university. I've now turned 30 and am thinking of pursuing an academic path. I haven't settled on an exact field, but I'm generally interested in the economic development of E. Asia. I know I don't have an ivy league pedigree, or a high-flying corporate background. I'm also getting kind of old. What are my chances?

Well, I asked a question earlier, and i got a lot of helpful information. I am doing a trial in school on who is responsible for the death of Jack. Rose is suing White Star Line's president, because he was the owner of the Titanic and he hired the captain. I have to defend The president of White Star Lines, and i have decided to shift the blame to Harland & Wolfe Shipbuilders because they knowingly didnt put enough life boats on and if they had then they would have probably prevented Jacks death, and everything would have been okay. SO IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME ANYTHING TO WORK WITH AS FAR AS THAT GOES, LIKE QUESTIONS I SHOULD ASK or whatever, i would be very thankful!

My daughter has a June birthday and is close to finishing kindergarten. Her teacher has recommended that she repeat, but also stated that she would do better being in school all day as opposed to another year of half day kindergarten. She reads and writes and meets the requirements to pass to first grade. However she is behind in her class in writing and is shy so she never answers questions or speaks out. I feel she lacks self confidence and is overshadowed by louder children. I am afraid that repeating kindergarten will upset her because she takes a while to warm up to people and now has friends. Any ideas for this agonizing decision?

I am doing a pretend trial in business law, and i am the defense attornye for White Star Lines, who is the owner of Titanic. I have to point the blame somewhere else, but i dont know who should be held responsible other than the captain, but everyone is saying that since the captain was employed by white star lines, then it is their fault and responsibility. any suggestions of where to put the blame? If so please explain why you chose who you chose. thanks so much!

I just recently applied to a grad school and did not get in. My current GPA is a 4.0 and my cumulative is 3.5. I had awesome letter of recommendations, a great transcript. I did not do as well as I would have liked on the GRE but I plan to take it again. I know that I would be a great assest to this particular school. I don't feel that one test should deteremine whether you get in grad school or not. I am just so dissappointed.

I am considering calling the director of the program I applied to and ask the individual why I did not get in. Do you think that is a good idea?
