Well, I asked a question earlier, and i got a lot of helpful information. I am doing a trial in school on who is responsible for the death of Jack. Rose is suing White Star Line's president, because he was the owner of the Titanic and he hired the captain. I have to defend The president of White Star Lines, and i have decided to shift the blame to Harland & Wolfe Shipbuilders because they knowingly didnt put enough life boats on and if they had then they would have probably prevented Jacks death, and everything would have been okay. SO IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME ANYTHING TO WORK WITH AS FAR AS THAT GOES, LIKE QUESTIONS I SHOULD ASK or whatever, i would be very thankful!

Ultimately, the Captain was responsible. Had he chosen a different course, or set the vessel to a slower speed, the accident would have been avoided or minimized. True the design was flawed because of shortcomings in the construction and budget, but, it was his decision and directions that sent the ship into the iceberg.

The other companies may have been responsible for contributory negligence (short of lifeboats, vests,, etc..) or the company's policy of locking the connecting doors between first and steerage classes, but they did not cause the sinking.

Harland & Wolfe had designed the Olympic series to carry many more lifeboats (48) than what they sailed with but the British Board of Trade had not modified their regulations to accommodate the enormous increase in capacity of ships in those years. The Titanic sailed with only 20 lifeboats - a decision of the White Star line. The law only required 16 so the ship passed inspection. The law was changed after the disaster so that every passenger on a ship would have a place on a lifeboat.

Kathy Bates, seriously, her obese body was probably too much for that poor little boat to handle!

It sunk because it crashed into an iceberg. It's the iceberg's fault.
