She knew they would be starting to worry now, furtively glancing at the clock and counting back the hours to when she was last seen. She knew her mobile phone lay, unplugged, in a drawer in her bedroom; its silence causing angry patches to appear on her father's pale face. She knew all of these things, but she did not care.
Let them worry. Let them feel the cold pebble of fear. Let them cry, as she had done so many times in her lonely bedroom..

- The extract is about a girl called Sarah who seems to have run away from home. Why would her parents be 'furtively' glancing at the clock? Anything else noticeable and interesting about the text - the literary devices used to create the mood/scene?

Thanks!
Lorna

They don't encourage prayer in school like they should, and they're teaching our kids that we evolved from monkeys. What a stupid theory! Everyone knows that the bible says that we was created by God, so why do they continue to teach such nonsense?

I keep hearing & reading that people with ITT Tech degrees usually don't get good jobs and that they end up in jobs that aren't classified in the field they studied at the institute. I'm set to begin there at ITT in a few months to obtain my degree in Criminal Justice and my fiancee is there now working on his degrees in Multimedia and Game Design. Does anyone know if this is true and why? I'd really like to know if I'm making a mistake.

The W words are What, Which, Why, Where, When and How.
When I was in Grade1, they had a poster of 5 W words, on one of the W words they put a piece of paper over it, and wrote How on it. We could not the word that was there before the paper covered. But later on some teachers say they are 5 W words (What, Which, Why, Where, When), others say 5 W words (Which, Why, Where, When, How), and others say 6.
Today, I am still wondering about this. I believe that they are 6, but I wonder if I am right.
Other than figuring this out, what is the history of behind the "W" words? Did someone decide that What was not a "W" word anymore, and replaced with HOW, or what happened with what or what did happen?

Justice is the obligation to treat individuals equally regardless of their race, sex, marital status, medical diagnosis, social standing, economic level or religious belief (Kearney 2005). This concept can be taken further to the staff management level which the employers should crate equal opportunities for the members of staff and allocate resources to provide them with the necessary training. This includes providing newly qualified nurses with the preceptorship programme.
