I think it's beause their teaching the best information available, and because we separate church in state (per the founding fathers, who were christians). Evolutionary theory is based in scientific research. Religious doctrine, well, if it went biblical, it'd have to also go hebrew, islamic, buddhist, hindu... if you wanted it to teach Christian doctrine, would you want them to teach Catholic, baptist, greek orthodox, unitarian, presbyterian, or which denomination?

Why do holy-roller conservatives want to use the public school system to push their holier-than-thou agenda?
They don't encourage respect for the Constitution like they should, and they're claiming that God created Earth just 6,000 years ago and that dinosaurs didn't exist. What a stupid theory! Everyone knows that the Bible isn't a literal text but rather is a compilation of allegories written not at one time but over centuries, so why do they continue to preach such nonsense?

um, hey pal - sorry to burst your little bible-thumping bubble, but Evolution has been scientifically proven. But I don't think it disproves anything about God whatsoever. In fact, I think it just shows how great God is, that he could orchestrate everything as He did. God is the greatest scientist of all!!!
But you shouldn't believe the bible so blindly -- learn some history. The people putting the bible together were corrupt, and argued constantly about what went in and what didn't. Religions were all set up to control people. Basically it comes down to the fact that the bible was written by men.
To call evolution nonsense makes you look stupid.

First, this is one issue liberals and conservatives should be united in, opposing religion in schools.
From an abstract perspective, the goal of a liberal is to provide the highest amount of liberty to the largest number of people. This means that each person should have the liberty to believe as they please and to confront the truth with evidence.
From an abstract perspective, the goal of a conservative is to minimize government involvement in people's lives, which means in this case, keeping government out of people's religion.
The job of science is to explain how the world works using solely facts. Religion explains it from divine revelation. If a religious belief is contrary to the facts it should be examined, but it has nothing to do with liberalness or conservativeness. It has to do with rigid religiousity, phariseeism really.

if you don't want your kid to learn facts, put him in a private christian school where they can fill his brain with nonsensical fairy tales then. i'm glad i was actually taught science & wasn't forced to pray to some imaginary being.
