I am from Sydney, Australia, and we love watching American sitcoms. I notice that American Students are always looking so hip in their own attire, how is it that you guys never wear school uniforms? Students in Australia must wear school uniforms right up until the end of highschool.

i have to go on a university trip to manchester where i don't know or like anybody so am determined not to go. Should i:
a)not turn up at all, so they think i'm going till last minute
b)go see teacher and give an excuse whilst being in danger of her forcing me to go.
c)e-mail teacher saying i can't go for whatever reason and hope she checks it although last time there was no reply so she might not use her e-mail
d)e-mail a different teacher (who doesn't know you) from her department, saying you can't go, even though this new teacher will think you're a prat, but at least you'll know that they are more likely to know that you're not going.

No answers saying i should go cos i really don't want to walk around from 9-7 on my own in freezin manchester.

Is it really unreasonable to say "Read the book yourself" or "Do the work yourself"? I can understand giving someone the links that point them in the right research direction, but giving them all the answers teaches them nothing. So why do people do it?

What does pooting mean? People often ask me if I am pooting. I don't know what they are talking about, and I don't want to sound ignorant and ask them.

How can I really tell, is there some kind of intelligent test I can do with her, or what should she be doing at this age, thankyou

How many of you out there went to University and earn less than your friends or colleagues who didn't go to uni?

Obviously if you are a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher etc then this doesn't apply.

My friend and I were discussing this earlier - one couple went to Uni and have a combined income of £28,000 per year and the other couple who didn't go to Uni have a combined income of £70,000 which ones do you think went to Uni ?

As an education major, I'm looking for ideas on ways that I can incorperate fun into my lessons. I've heard of students being awarded 'money' to buy small items form a 'shop' in the classroom. Other teachers have some sort of 'catch;' that can be used in the event that a lesson ends early, etc to keep students occupied. (For example, one of my professors had a hockey goal in his class and woud play a little hockey in the back of the classroom.) I'm looking for details on any activities that teachers have in their classroom that help to create a community in the class and /or can be used in the event that I need something to fill a short amount of time. (All my profs tell us to alway over plan and have some sort of activity ready to go when needed.) Thank you in advance for your ideas! P.S. If you have more details on the money thing in the class - I'd appreciate that as well.
