Some people like to keep bogus arguments even when they are proven wrong just for the sake to not "lose" such argument. Is there any name in colloquial english to refer to that kind of people?

I spent 3 years feeling worthless and lacking in confidence because i came from school without any qualifications. I'm 19 and I've never had a job before. I'm in college part time now (which as stupid as it sounds, was a big step for me) In January, i will either take up college full time, or carry on part time and get a part time job. Which option would be best for me?

My BEST friend got accepted into Harvard & she's going to major in English. We're practically sisters. We live nextdoor to eachother and there isn't a moment when we're not together. I'm just as smart as she is, but I didn't apply to Harvard because I want to go to school for Art [I don't like Harvard's programs for Art]. Could anyone tell me any schools relatively close to Harvard that I could apply to? (I'm going to college next year, she's a year older than me). I don't care about the academic rating because I probably could get a scholarship into a college. Help? Please and thank you!

Alright, I am a college junior (just got to the status) and I am majoring in English. I have around 57-66 hours left to complete, and then I want to go to graduate school for a M.A. and then eventually a Ph.D. in creative writing (So I can become a comp/rhet/lit teacher). The University I am attending is very small (approx 4750 students) and I would like to stay here for my M.A. before I apply at the other school once I am finished.

Any ideas on a route for a job or whatnot? I don't want to become certified because here in the great state of Texas (sarcasm) it would atleast take me 80 hours to get certified to teach English.

So, I need some ideas on what to do POST-B.A.

I'm a sophomore and I just took the PSAT, and the deadline for registering for the SAT is December 26. I just kind of worried that I'll get a bad score, so I want to know if the score I submit to colleges is the best score, an average score, or if all the scores are submitted?

I'm trying to find out if there's a story behind the reason we call Christopher Columbus by that name, instead of Cristobal Colon. Was it just "easier to say" for people in America -- so it changed? It can't be that simple -- I've found in the past that most of these kind of name changes occur because of popular songs or poems that shifted our cultural lexicon.

Would love any suggestions or thoughts on this -- there's got to be a story behind the story!
