I spent 3 years feeling worthless and lacking in confidence because i came from school without any qualifications. I'm 19 and I've never had a job before. I'm in college part time now (which as stupid as it sounds, was a big step for me) In January, i will either take up college full time, or carry on part time and get a part time job. Which option would be best for me?

Full time college. Get your degree then pursue a good career that will benefit you.

If you are nineteen and this has been going on since you were 16, your feelings stopped you from getting the most of your high school education. Going back part time is a great step and should make you proud. This is about YOU not anyone else. Look at your current class load, can you handle it easily? Are your grades good? Could you concentrate as well on more subjects or would that frustrate you and confuse you? If you feel that you can double what you are doing and can afford it, go back full time. You can always go back to part time status if it becomes too much. If you know for yourself you will become overwhelmed then staying part time for a little longer and working part time might be a great step as well. Yes, there is time involved in a part time job, but you dont take work home with you. Plan for what you will be successful in. Keep taking those little steps towards becomeing the person you want to be. If it takes longer, no one will know once you graduate.

If you can afford it, full time college would be a good move for your future BUT if you lack experience in what some refer to as "the real world", and you feel that is a liability to your future, go part time/part time.

If nothing else, just for the feeling of satisfaction...because if you go to school full time there's a possibility that you might lack the experience after you graduate to have a completely rewarding career.

You might also decide to change your career path. At 19, it's really hard for some folks to determine what they really want to do. You can get your core classes done while you get a part time job and explore your options more readily.

Good luck!!

If you can avoid to takes classes full time, then go ahead and do so. If not, then go part time and work part time, but by all means STAY IN SCHOOL. It sounds like you're trying to turn your life around -- good for you!!!!

Just one thing to remember; It's OK to take more than four years to finish a degree, and its OK to change your major a couple of times. There is NO law that says you *have* to finish in four years or stick with only one major. With this in mind: I wish you all the best! Sounds like you're on the right track. ;-)

It depends on your financial situation. If you can afford to go to school full time, that is probably your best option. An internship through your school is a good way to get some job experience and experiment in different fields you may want to work in after graduation.

full time if you can do it. maybe having a solid education will help you feel better about yourself. hey...you're not getting your life back, you're just getting started. you're young. don't be so hard on yourself. figure out what you want to do and go after it. it doesn't matter what it is, it will come to you. take life one day at a time, sieze your opportunities each day but don't rush. don't put off things until tomorrow that you can do today but don't worry. you can only deal with the things you have on your plate right now and you will get nowhere trying to solve the problems you don't have yet. deal with those when they happen.

You need to go to college, there are two things in life you have to have! The first is education and the second is what you will get if you have education is money! But these are just the top 2 material things you need, you also need happiness.

May I offer some advice? Don't call your decision 'as stupid as it sounds'. Negative self talk will never build you up. Replace those thoughts and words with better thoughts and words.
