What or who is "humpty dumpty" in the nursery rhyme?

Should have EGGsplained more. The rhyme is not talking about an egg - it is infact an historical event.... think!!

Ok I will tell you.. It was in fact a Canon which was shot off a wall outside the parliament building. It was too heavy for the troops to pick up and put back on another section of wall

Humpty dumpty was infact a Canon which was shot off a wall outside the parliament building. It was too heavy for the troops to pick up and put back on another section of wall so all the kings horses and all the kings men got scrambled

, a great big egg with arms and legs, he's a brick layer and was on his lunch break and coz of is rubbish craftsmen ship the wall was unstable and he fell off, all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put humpty together again coz they hadn't invented super glue yet.

Fat, drunk egg (well he can't fall off a wall and be sober). Possibly suicide or murder as who'd want to kill a fat egg as without a motive it's meaningless time wasting.
