I know the answer is 3.2, but how do I explain it to my daughter so she can use the principle on similar problems? I feel like an idiot.

I will be graduating in May with a bachelors degree in psychology. After taking a year or so off I want to go back and get my masters degree. I am not sure if I should get a masters in social work or psychology. I want the degree that will give me the most versatility and opportunity. I really want to work in the mental health field as a counselor or be a school counselor. What option should I choose?

I read a mother in Georgia is trying to get the Harry Potter books banned because she thinks they're teaching children to become witches. So, I'm curious as to what you think. Personally I think she's a nut job. She has the right not to allow her children to read them, but she does NOT have the right to tell other people what to let their children read.

Reward and punishments do not seem to help or change his behavior. It has been a strugle at school with teachers and at home with us. He says he's destracted but is the answer an empty room to work in? He is 8 years old & in a GATE class. His current teacher has given up on getting work out of him because he knows the material and gets A's on all his tests. My worry is that this may be the only teacher who lets him do that. As he gets older the work load will only increase. I am wondering if there is some tutoring method or book that can help him to focus. Anne

Don't you think resumes from our society could use a little bit of pop cultured education? I'm amazed at the lack of basic literary skills.
What happened?

I know they don'tmean my physical lips. LoL. But when talking about my personality I had to people that said I act like I have such a stiff upper lip at times.

I htought that was a reference for British people. Lol. I am not British.

What does it mean, exactly?

It seems to me that Yahoo Answers is a forum for students at any level to get the answers to the questions they are supposed to solve. Explain to my why you would so willingly give the student, whom you do not know, the answer to a question. Wouldn't you rather direct them as to how they can solve the answer on their own? (i.e. "look in the textbook" or "read 'The Catcher In The Rye' for yourself")

I prefer to tell the student, when it is obvious they are fishing for the answer, to figure out how to answer the question for themselves. After all, when they get out into the work world, they won't be paid to have someone else do their work for them.

Why are they so lazy and why do you help them?

I asked a similar question yesterday. I'm deciding if I should major in economics (which I hate and kinda suck at but may offer more jobs) or political science (which I like and get A's in but may offer less jobs). I have a lot of credits in each but I can't fit in a double major. Do I go for what may be best in the long run (econ) or what I would enjoy the most now (polisci)??

Compromise might be the best course of action when what is at issue is a distribution of scarce resources.
